Greinke looking for bounce back performance for Diamondbacks
Zack Greinke was not sharp for the Diamondbacks last week in St. Louis. In his second start of the season, he allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings. He struck out nine in just 5 1/3 innings in his previous start against the Rockies but Greinke struggled versus the Cardinals’ lineup. Jose Martinez rocked him for a three-run home run in the third inning, which caused most of the damage.
Meanwhile, Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double in a 7-3 victory over the Giants on Wednesday. It was the second game in a row where Goldschmidt went deep. Even though he’s off to a slow start, Goldschmidt has had some bad batted ball luck that should turn around soon.
Maeda had previous start skipped by rainout
Kenta Maeda’s turn in the Dodgers’ rotation was skipped due to a rainout in San Francisco. He was available out of the bullpen but this will be his first start since April 4.
While the Dodgers’ offense has been quiet in the early going, Yasmani Grandal is hot. He finished Wednesday’s home loss against the A’s with three hits, including a double and a solo home run across four at-bats. The catcher is now 10-for-26 (.385) with five runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and five RBI in seven outings in April.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 7-2 in their last nine games overall and have won five of their last six games versus National League West opponents.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are just 2-5 in their last seven games overall and have dropped four of their last five games versus National League West rivals.
Prediction:
I’m going to fade Greinke tonight at Chavez Ravine. While the Diamondbacks have won nine of their last 12 games versus the Dodgers overall, they’re just 10-29 in their last 39 games in Los Angeles and have dropped five of their last seven games versus the Dodgers with Greinke on the mound. The Dodgers have hit .340 against him with six home runs in four starts in L.A. Even though the Dodgers aren’t hitting at the moment, I’m banking on them jumping on Greinke tonight.
The Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -132
