NHL – TRENDS OF THE DAY

After a busy Valentine’s Day in the National Hockey League on Thursday, the league settles down on Friday as there are only four games scheduled. This includes a great battle for New York as the New York Rangers travel to take on the Buffalo Sabres looking to continue their domination of the Sabres in Buffalo. In other great action, the Edmonton Oilers take on the Carolina Hurricanes and the Boston Bruins battle the Anaheim Ducks.

Lines provided by BetDSI Sportsbook. Get the trends for all National Hockey League Games here.

Featured Game

New York Rangers (+125) vs. Buffalo Sabres (-155)

The New York Rangers are in seventh place in the Metropolitan Division with 56 points (24-24-8), while the Buffalo Sabres are in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 63 points (28-21-7). New York is 9-15-2 on the road this season and is 5-4-1 in their last 10 games. Buffalo is 17-8-4 at home this season and they are also 5-4-1 in their last 10 games.

Goaltending Matchup:

Henrik Lundqvist is 16-15-6 this season for New York. Lundqvist has a 3.02 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage. The New York goaltender has lost his last four starts, giving up a combined total of 12 goals in that span. Lundqvist is 4-5-1 in his last 10 starts.

Buffalo will start Carter Hutton who is 15-16-2 this season. Hutton has a 2.84 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. He has lost his last two starts and has dropped eight of his last 10 decisions (2-7-1). Hutton has allowed at least four goals in four of his last five starts.

15-36 in their last 51 games on the road.
5-16 in their last 21 games on a Friday.
2-8 in their last 10 games when playing on two day’s rest.

The Buffalo Sabres are…

16-38 in their last 54 games playing on Friday.
6-13 in their last 19 games against Eastern Conference teams.
18-37 in their last 55 games following a victory.

Stat Pack:

Rangers:
Goals For: 2.73
Goals Against: 3.29
Power-Play: 21.4%
Penalty Killing: 77.7%

Sabres:
Goals For: 2.88
Goals Against: 3.04
Power-Play: 18.1%
Penalty Killing: 82.1%

Prediction

This is a battle of two teams who are trying to put together a run in hopes of making the playoffs. The Rangers have dominated Buffalo of late, winning 20 of the last 28 meetings and have won seven of the last nine in Buffalo. However, the home team has won the last four meetings. We look for the home team trend to continue here as the Buffalo Sabres are victorious.

The total has gone under in five of the last seven meetings between these two teams and 10 of the last 13 in Buffalo. However, Lundqvist has given up four goals in two of his last three starts and Hutton has given up four or more in four of his last five. You simply have to like the over here as the Buffalo Sabres win, 5-4.
