The set-up: Two competent hurlers square off in this National League contest on Tuesday night and in my opinion, runs are DEFINITELY going to be at a premium. The visitors hand the ball to ace Jacob deGrom, while the home side goes with Max Scherzer.
The pitchers: deGrom (8-8, 2.66 ERA) comes in off a rare poor effort, allowing four runs over seven innings in a 4-1 loss to the Cubs. Overall though he’s 8-4 with a tiny 2.33 ERA in 18 career starts vs. Washington.
Scherzer (9-5, 2.46) is 10-5 with a 2.47 ERA in 20 games vs. New York lifetime.
The pick: The Mets won 7-3 in last night’s opener, but I think the stage is set for a classic “duel” with these two stud starters facing off. Consider the “under” in this one.

Greinke only allowed two earned runs and struck out nine batters in seven innings in his only start against the Brewers this season. Lyles has allowed five or more earned runs in four of his last 10 starts. Houston is ranked in the top five in nearly every major offenses and defensive category this season and Greinke will continue his winning streak as an Astro tonight.
