NHL | Maple Leafs vs Hurricanes
Play on: Maple Leafs -108 at BMaker

The Toronto Maple Leafs are an elite team and teams should fear them. They got 4 lines rolling and their goaltending has been fantastic. Despite the Hurricanes hot start to the season, the Leafs are still in a great position to win this game. The Canes get a ton of shots on net, but don't necessarily defend well. As the Leafs are playing great defense and always a threat to score 5+ goals, they're a great play Wednesday night.

Pick Rating: ****

NBA | Pistons vs Rockets
Play on: UNDER 215 -110

On Wednesday night. Play Under on teams like Detroit when the total is 210 or higher, after a win by 10 points or more, against an opponent after three straight wins by 10 points or more. In the past 22 years, the UNDER is 38-11, 77.6%.

NBA | Lakers vs Cavs
Play on: OVER 221 -109

In his return to Cleveland, you know Lebron is going to want to have a big game. When he was with the Heat, he was 12-1 against the Cavs. The last time that he was a visitor in this arena, he scored 43. On Sunday, when facing his 'other' former team, he dropped 51 on the Heat. While they likely don't have the firepower to do so, the Cavs are going to do everything they can to spoil his homecoming. They'll do their best to trade offensive punches. With Laker games averaging 232 points on the season, this total could easily be a bit higher. Consider the Over.

NBA | Blazers vs Bucks
Play on: Bucks -6 -102 at 5Dimes

It may surprise you to know that Milwaukee has the second-best record in the NBA so far. The Bucks have built up this mark in large part because of an 8-1 home mark, 7-1-1 ATS. The Bucks have won every one of their home games except one by 11 or more points. The Bucks have matched up well to the Trail Blazers in recent seasons going 11-3-1 ATS versus them. One of the losses, however, occurred on Nov. 6 in Portland. The Trail Blazers buried the Bucks, 118-103. The Bucks' other three losses have been by an average of three points. That embarrassement to Portland remains fresh in the minds of the Bucks coming just two weeks ago. The spot sets up well for Milwaukee. The Bucks catch the Trail Blazers playing their fourth road game in six days and second in two nights. Portland was taxed by the Knicks last night, winning 118-114, with four of its players logging more than 30 minutes. The Trail Blazers rely heavily on their outstanding backcourt tandem of CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard. McCollum played more than 38 minutes against the Knicks, while Lillard saw more than 36 minutes of action. Portland is out of the gate fast, too, at 12-5. The Trail Blazers have been fortunate with their early-season schedule, though. They beat the Rockets when Houston didn't have James Harden. They also have played a combined seven games versus the Lakers, Timbewolves and Wizards. Those three teams have all been struggling to find their identity.

Wednesday comp play is Over in the Pelicans-Sixers meeting.

I looked at this total and thought...are you kidding me? no way these teams combine for an Over with the total this huge!

Then I delved a little further and I thought...why not?

This is the "new" NBA where nightly regular season games very rarely see lock-down defense being played, so let's look for some highlight-reel offense to be flashed tonight in the City of Brotherly Love!

New Orleans has played 3 straight Overs, and have been Over the total in 4 of their last 5 overall. The Pels have scored triple-digits in each of their last 8 games, and they have scored at least 125 points in each of their last 3 games!

Philadelphia has played each of their last 3 games, and 6 of their last 7 games overall Over the total, and they too have cracked the century mark in each of their last 8 games contested.

It just looks like a whole lot of offense on the court for the 48 minutes tonight.

Pelicans and Sixers to crank up the offense once again, and the points to flow freely.

New Orleans-Philadelphia Over the total.

4* NEW ORLEANS-PHILADELPHIA OVER

Let's take care of business here on Wednesday before doing some Turkey Day damage.

Gave you a free play winner on Buffalo +150 on Monday night, and low-and-behold, the Sabres came from 4-1 down on the road to stun the Penguins 5-4 in overtime and put the wraps on a 3-0 road trip. Now back at home with 6 straight wins - 3 in OT, and 1 in a shootout - you could safely say that the Sabres are playing their best hockey in years!

The same cannot be said for the Philadelphia Flyers, as Philly comes to Buffalo having lost 3 straight - all of them on home ice!

It will be the first meeting of the season between the teams, and this has been a home oriented series, as the host has won the last 3, and 6 of the last 7 overall.

Buffalo has been getting solid goal tending from Carter Hutton, but better still, the Sabres offense has contributed 22 goals during this 6 game uptick. A clicking offense, and good net-minding is the perfect tonic for wins in the NHL, and tonight the Sabres will send the home crowd home happy one more time.

Make it a 7 game Buffalo win streak after these 3 periods with Philadelphia are in the books.

Comp play on Buffalo.

3* BUFFALO

NHL | Canadiens vs Devils
Play on: Canadiens +130 at 5Dimes

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NHL Game #5 Wednesday Montreal Canadiens Money Line (+) @ New Jersey Devils @ 7 ET - The Canadiens are fired up and can't wait to take the ice after blowing a 2-goal lead and only earning 1 point in regulation in an eventual 5-4 loss to the Capitals on Monday. Montreal entered that game having won 3 of their last 4 games overall. Also, the Habs enter this game having won 4 of their last 6 road games. The Devils, on the other hand, have lost 8 of their last 11 games and yet New Jersey is a popular choice of the betting markets early Wednesday morning. Particularly after the line move we've seen, there is a lot of value with the Canadiens as a sizable road dog here. Montreal has won 6 of their 9 games this season when off a game in which they have scored 4 or more goals. New Jersey has lost 25 of 39 when off a game in which they were held to 1 goal or less. Free Pick MONTREAL

Larry Ness
Nov 21 '18, 8:05 PM in 7h
NBA | Nuggets vs Wolves
Play on: Nuggets +2 -107 at 5Dimes

My free play is on the Den Nuggets at 8:05 ET.

The Denver Nuggets jumped out to a 9-1 start in the 2018-19 season but have seen that hot start 'cool off' rapidly. The Nuggets are 0-2 on their current three-game road trip (let a 17-point, first-half lead get away in Monday's 104-98 loss in Milwaukee) and 'limp' into Minnesota having lost SIX of their last seven. Minnesota is hoping to rebound from Sunday's 100-87 home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, when it committed 20 turnover. However, it was the team's first loss in four games since trading disgruntled Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Denver PG Jamal Murray recorded 17 points, a season-best nine assists and eight rebounds in the loss to Milwaukee but also matched his season worst of five turnovers. Murray has scored in double figures in 14 straight games, topped by a career-high 48 points against the Boston Celtics on Nov. 5. He currently ranks third on the team in scoring, just behind Gary Harris (17.2). Center Nikola Jokic leads the team in scoring (17.8), rebounding (10.0) and assists (6.9). The Nuggets rank a modest 13th in scoring at 110.5 PPG but rank 4th in points allowed (104.5 per).

Center Karl-Anthony Towns collected 20 rebounds in the loss to the Grizzlies, his second contest of at least 20 rebounds in the past four games. Towns is averaging 19.9 & 12.2 on the season and has recorded eight double-doubles over the last 11 games. SF Andrew Wiggins, is averaging 17.4 PPG but suffered through a 6-for-18 effort while scoring 14 points against Memphis, while PG Jeff Teague (12.9 & 7.6 APG) scored a season-low two points on 1-of-9 shooting against Memphis.

Minnesota (109.6 PPG) scores about like Denver but is allowing about 10 points more per game (114.1, to rank 24th). Talking about his teams' turnovers in the loss to Memphis, forward Robert Covington said, "That definitely makes the game a lot harder. That's 20 times that we didn't get a shot up or something bad happened. We've just got to be better and fight through that."Nicely put but note that in its previous game, Minnesota overcame 23 turnovers to beat the Nets. I look for 10-7 Denver to get back in the win column, here.

Good luck...Larry
