Strike Point Sports Picks For College Basketball

Wednesday's College Basketball Plays

2-Unit Play. #537 Take James Madison +1 over William Mary (7 pm)

The Dukes have been a successful road team, posting a 7-2 ATS mark in their last nine away from home. They slipped up against Hofstra this past weekened, but look for them to respond against sub .500 William Mary. James Madison opened up conference play with a win over VCU last week, and they will get back on track with another in the win column against the Tribe.

5-Unit Play. #541 Take Old Dominion -150 over Towson (7 pm)

Old Dominion has dominated in recent meetings against the Tigers, winning the last nine match-ups with Towson. Seven of those nine victories have come by doubel digits, and this is another one that could go easily to the Monarchs. The road team is 8-3 ATS in the last eleven meetings, and here we'll take the better and proven team to take this one outright.

2-Unit Play. #547 Take Troy State -2 over Florida International (7 pm)

The Trojans have been impressive this year, scoring at a very high rate and going 7-3 ATS in their last ten. They have scored 80 or more in four of their last five, and their offense will be too much for an FIU team that has dropped six of its last seven and eight of ten. Troy is the play in this Sun Belt match-up.

5-Unit Play. #557 Take Syracuse -160 over Cincinnati (8 pm)

One big thing separating these two Big East schools is their ability to score. Syracuse is hitting for over 85 per game, while Cincinnati is around just 65. That's the difference here, as the Orange want to run and get the pace into a high scoing affair. Cincy won't be able to match them, and it's the 'Cuse that open their conference schedule 3-0 with the victory.

3-Unit Play. #563 Take Mississippi State -135 over LSU (8 pm)

The LSU Tigers are slowly sliding down the SEC rung into the cellar, and the Bulldogs will continue to keep them there. The team from Baton Rogue has struggled to score all season, while Mississippi State has been much more efficient, led by one of the conference's top players in Jamont Gordon. He and Charles Rhodes will carry the load and get some help from the bench. The Bulldogs keep it going and capture their fifth straight win, handing LSU its fourth consecutive defeat.

3-Unit Play. #567 Take Marshall -170 over Rice (8 pm)

The Owls are hapless, and the Thunder Herd come in off two big wins, taking care of San Diego and Winthrop in non-conference. Rice has scored 60 just once in its last seven games, while Marshall is averaging over 70 per outing. This one is one-sided, and the check mark goes to the favorite.

2-Unit Play. #575 Take Mississippi +9.5 over Tennessee (8 pm)

Hmmmm. I know the Vols are a strong team, but I anticipated this line nowhere what it actually came out as. Ole Miss is a very efficient shooting team, particularly with the three ball, and a balanced offense at that. Led by Dwayne Curtis, this one will be closer than the linesmakers assume it to be, and I just can't see an undefeated Rebels team not being competitive here.

4 Unit Play. #531 Take St. Bonaventure +27 ½ over Xavier (7:00 pm) Way too many points to be laying considering this is a conference game and the Bonnies see the Musketeers on a regular basis. This is will a blowout, but only by 20 points and thus it will be a point spread victory with the underdog.

4 Unit Play. #546 Take Clemson -14 ½ over Charlotte (7:30 pm ACC Select) There is a huge talent discrepancy in this match-up between schools from bordering states. The 49ers have yet to win a true road game this year and the Tigers are mad after blowing the game against UNC on Sunday night. They will take out their frustrations on Charlotte and win this game by 20+ points. Charlotte plays very little defense and that does not bode well when playing Clemson, who is averaging over 82 points per game. Charlotte was getting blown out by Maryland before making a late charge to get back into the game, but Clemson ain’t Maryland and there will be no late charge on Wednesday, as the Tigers get it done @ Littlejohn.

5 Unit Play. #552 Take Massachusetts -4 over St. Josephs (7:30 pm) Amherst, MA is the site for this A-10 tilt between the Redhawks and the Minute Men. UMASS continues to get it done under Coach Travis Ford, playing hard noise defense and can light up the scoreboard as well. The Redhawks can not score enough points to keep up with UMASS and thus will eventually bow down in this road affair. The Minutemen gave Vanderbilt all that they could handle over the weekend and will come ready to play looking to get back on the winning track at the Mullins Center. They are 6-0 in Amherst and win No. 7 will come this evening by double digits.

4 Unit Play. #561 Take Indiana State +9 ½ over Drake (8:00 pm Mediacom) A key game in the MVC takes place tonight in Des Moines, as two 3-0 conference records are put on the line. This will be an intense match-up, as both teams play strong defense and expect the score to only be in the sixties. The Sycamores have played a brutal non-conference schedule to prepare them for conference play and Drake mainly beat up on Iowa teams and thus will not be able to blow ISU out this evening.
