Cincinnati lost its opener 64-56 at Ohio State, going 4-21 on arc in Brannen’s first game as Cincy’s coach. Drake beat a stiff by 31 in its opener, making 17-29 on arc, which isn’t sustainable; Bulldogs start four sophs and a senior- they’ve got four starters back from LY’s 24-10 LY, 12-6 in Valley, before losing by hoop to UNI in Arch Madness.

Iowa outscored SIU-Edwardsville 27-4 on foul line in its 87-60 opening win Friday; Hawkeyes start three sophs and a frosh, have three starters back from a 23-12 team that went 10-10 in Big 14. DePaul is 3-0 already, beating Alcorn by 18 , FD by 11 and a stiff by 29; Blue Demons start trailed FDU by 3 with 9:55 left Friday- they start three juniors, one senior, have have couple of starters back from LY’s 19-17 team that went 7-11 in Big East. their best Big East mark in 12 years.
Texas A&M beat Northwestern State of Southland 77-63 in their opener, shooting 68.6% inside arc, only 4-15 on arc. Aggies start three juniors and a senior for new coach Buzz Williams- they have three starters back from LY’s 14-18 team that went 6-12 in SEC. UL-Monroe beat Alcorn by a point in OT after beating a stiff by 23; Warhawks have two starters back from 19-16 team that went 9-9 in Sun Belt LY. ULM starts three seniors and two juniors.
San Francisco won its opener 82-72 at home over Princeton for new coach Golden; Dons start two juniors, two seniors- they’ve got three starters back from LY’s 21-10 team that went 9-7 in WCC. Yale won its opener 74-69 in OT at Stony Brook; Bulldogs start three juniors, two seniors- they played two guys 40:00, two others 35/36 minutes in the opener. Bulldogs have lost four starters from a 22-8 team that went 10-4 in Ivy League; they’re re-tooling a little.
