NBA Pick 'n' Roll: Wednesday's picks, betting odds and analysis
By: Covers Staff

Feb 7, 2018 |

These will be the must-watch, must-wager NBA games in Las Vegas this week

The NBA takes over the sports betting spotlight with the NFL wrapped up, and opens the week with some monster matchups. We're inside the Mirage sp...

Utah Jazz at Memphis Grizzlies (+6.5, 202)

What the hell has gotten into the Utah Jazz? The club went from the 25th best offense in the league in December to the second best offense over the last 10 games. The Jazz are 8-2 straight up and against the spread over the last 10 games and are averaging 115.6 points over the same stretch.

And they’re doing this all with their two top scorers, Donovan Mitchell and Rodney Hood, in and out of the lineup with various injuries. On top of that key contributors like Hood and Derrick Favors know their names are out in the trade market and veteran reserve Joe Johnson reportedly has told management he wants out.

Ricky Rubio seems to be the glue keeping things humming in Utah. The veteran point guard is averaging 21 points and 9.2 assists while hitting 62.5 percent of his attempts from 3-point land over the last five games.

Pick: Over 202

Minnesota Timberwolves at Cleveland Cavaliers (+4, 221)

The Cavs are coming off an 18-point home loss to the worst team in the Eastern Conference that was missing its best player. How bad are things for the Cavs right now?

The Timberwolves don’t always know what they’re going to get night-to-night from Andrew Wiggins, but that’s not the case against Cleveland. Wiggins makes a habit of producing some of his best games against the team that traded him away before playing his first game as a pro. He averages 29.1 points on 54.7 shooting percentage in seven career games against the Cavs.

Pick: Timberwolves -4

Yesterday’s picks: 1-1
Season record: 101-117

Total Streaks

*The over is 5-1 in the Pistons’ last six games.
*The under is 10-2 in the Rockets’ last 12 games.
*The under is 4-1 in the Timberwolves last five games.
*The over is 4-0 in Utah’s last four games.
*The over is 6-1 in the Suns’ last seven games playing on zero days’ rest.

Injury of Note

Phoenix Suns will not have their leading scoring in uniform for tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. Devin Booker has missed two of the Suns’ last five games because of a banged up hip and bruised ribs. He’s averaging 24.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game and the Suns are 5-6-1 ATS in the 12 games he’s missed this season.

Victor Oladipo is questionable to play tonight for the Indiana Pacers because of the same illness that kept him out Tuesday against the Wizards. Oladipo is having a career season and made his first All-Star team this year. The Pacers are 0-6 ATS without him in the lineup this season.

Ref to Watch

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 10-0 straight up and 9-0-1 against the spread in their last 10 games refed by Mike Callahan. He’s the lead official in tonight’s game at Cleveland between the Cavs and Timberwolves and the Cavs are 4-point underdogs.

Trends

*The Rockets are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games playing on zero days’ rest.
*The Cavaliers are 14-37-1 ATS in their last 52 games.
*The Jazz are 6-0 ATS in their last six games.
*The Grizzlies are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 home games.
*The Pelicans are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games.

Covers Consensus

Better than 70 percent of Covers contest players are backing the Houston Rockets to cover as 4.5-point road favorites against the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
