They did it again last night....Cubs and Pirates made it 3-for-3 Under the total this wet weekend in the Steel City, and today I like them to make it 4 games played, 4 games Under the total.
With Saturday's Under, that makes 7 of the last 9 in the season series between these Central Division foes Under the posted price.
For the Cubs, they are now Under in 5 of their last 6 games, and 9 of their last 11 overall, while the Bucs are low in 6 of their last 7 games.
Jose Quintana has been very shaky over his last pair of starts, but a look at his numbers on the road show 8 of his 13 road games started this season have held Under.
As for Jameson Taillon, he has allowed 3 runs or less in each of his last 13 season starts, so let's look for there to be just enough quality pitching to keep the bats quiet enough to make it a clean 4-0 sweep in the Under department this weekend at PNC Park.
3* CUBS-PITTSBURGH UNDER

My free pick is on the Oakland Athletics, over the Houston Astros, as this American League West rivalry continues to become intriguing. The A's pulled into a tie with the defending World Series champs with a win yesterday, and I think this pitching matchup is in Oakland's favor with the price we're seeing.
I'll list Sean Manaea over Justin Verlander today, and look for the A's to take over the division lead heading into next week.
Manaea is up after bouncing back from his shortest outing of the season with a strong performance against the Seattle Mariners on Monday, when he gave up two runs in 7 2/3 innings to earn the win. The left-handerhas not allowed more than three runs in a start since May, and should have plenty of motivation for this start.
Verlander, meanwhile, continues to vie for career win No. 200 after coming up short Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies. Things haven't been so smooth for the veteran of late, as he’s 2-6 with a 3.94 ERA in his last 11 starts after going 9-2 with a 1.61 ERA in his first 15 starts of the season. The right-hander is 1-2 with a 5.17 ERA in his last three starts, and catches an Oakland lineup that is slugging .431 as a unit. The A's are on a 7-3 run and have outscored opponents by 13 runs in that span.
Take the A's and list both pitchers.
2* ATHLETICS (Manaea over Verlander)

The WNBA comp Play is on Indiana at 6:05 eastern.
We are playing against Chicago here as they fit a solid system that plays against home favorites of 7 or more off a road win and cover and scored 85 or more. This is the final game of the WNBA Regular season and the back end of a home and home between Indiana and Chicago. Last night Chicago won and covered. Tonight we expect Indiana to hang around again and get the cover. Chicago has failed to cover 23 of 34 at home and 13 of 17 on Sundays. Take the points with Indiana

Edges - White Sox: Lopez 3.73 ERA with 1.12 WHIP home as opposed to 5.11 ERA and 1.60 WHIP away this season … Royals: Fillmyer 6.75 ERA away as opposed to 3.13 ERA home this season … With the Royals 1-5 as underdogs behind Fillmyer, we recommend a 1* play on the White Sox. Thank you and good luck as always.

Giants vs. Reds
Reds-105
The Cincinnati Reds have held the Giants to one run in each of the first two games of this series. The Reds on the other hand had no problem to reach San Francisco southpaw Madison Bumgarner for six runs (five earned) in Saturday's 7-1 triumph, and I think they'll give another Giants lefty a heard time here on Sunday.
Giants' Andrew Suarez (4-8, 4.40 ERA) has posted a 6.19 ERA in three August starts and he lost to the Reds 6-3 on May 16, allowing four earned runs and eight hits in six innings. Reds are 4-0 in their last 4 games vs. a left-handed starter.
Cincinnati righty Luis Castillo (6-10, 5.04 ERA) had surrender just up three earned runs in 17 2/3 innings through his past three starts before allowing five runs in 5 2/3 frames of a 9-2 loss to the Diamondbacks last Sunday. He'll face the Giants for the first time, which usually is an advantage for the pitcher.
Reds are 4-1 in Castillo's last 5 home starts. Giants are 0-6 in the last 6 meetings at Great American Ballpark.

My selection is on the 'under' between Toronto and New York at 1:05 pm et on Sunday.
I'll back the 'under' at Yankee Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Ryan Borucki will take the ball for the Blue Jays. He'll be looking to bounce back from back-to-back shaky outings. Keep in mind, prior to those last two starts he had given up a grand total of just two earned runs in his previous three outings, spanning 20 innings of work. Borucki has already faced the Yankees once this season, allowing only one earned run over seven innings back on July 8th. He'll be facing a less potent Yankees lineup on Sunday, as they continue to play without Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge.
Former Blue Jay J.A. Happ will counter for New York. He's been outstanding since joining the Yankees, giving up only four earned runs on eight hits over 19 innings of work. He's certainly been able to settle in here at Yankee Stadium, as he will be making his fourth straight home start on Sunday afternoon.
We've seen back-to-back high-scoring affairs between these two teams over the last two days but I expect things to settle down on Sunday afternoon.

My free play is on the Hou Astros at 4:05 ET:
Oakland's Matt Olson delivered a walk-off homer in Friday's 4-3 (10 innings) victory over the Houston Astros and last night, had two hits, two runs and an RBI to pace an 11-hit attack in Saturday's 7-1 win. The Athletics have erased a 12-game deficit in a two-month span and can take over first place in the AL West when they cap a three-game series with the visiting Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon. Oakland has gone 40-13 since the middle of June to tie the defending champs atop the division, while the Astros have gone a modest 8-13 their last 21 games (Houston will take the field today having lost seven of its last eight). The Astros are 7-12 since reigning MVP Jose Altuve (knee) last played a game July 25.
Justin Verlander (11-8, 2.52 ERA) takes the mound and will be making his third attempt at career win No. 200. He was knocked around by Seattle in his first bid to join the 200-win club back on August 9 (allowed six ERs in just two innings) and then received a tough loss against Colorado this past Tuesday. Verlander limited the Rockies to two runs while striking out 11 in six innings but was on the losing end of a 5-1 setback. Verlander owned a 1.11 ERA at the end of May and sat 9-2 with a 1.61 ERA on June 14. However, he's just 2-6 over his last 11 starts, with Houston going 4-7 in that span. He enters this contest with Houston 14-12 in all of his 26 starts in 2018 and his moneyline mark of minus-$1383 ranks dead-last among all 2018 starters. Verlander blanked the Athletics over six innings in a matchup July 10 at home and is 11-6 with a 2.55 ERA in 19 career encounters (including 2-0 in 2018).
Oakland lefty Sean Manaea (11-8, 3.44 ERA) takes the mound for the A's. He lasted just 2 2/3 inning in an August 7 loss to the Dodgers but bounced back from that poor start to defeat the Mariners with 7 2/3 innings of two-run ball on Monday. He was reached for three runs and seven hits over four innings opposite Verlander in Houston back on July 10. Manaea is 1-1 against the Astros this season and 2-4 with a 2.82 ERA in 11 career starts against them. This will be his 26th start of 2018, 10 more than any other Oakland starter.
Oakland is the hotter team and the Astros remain without Altuve (note: the three-time batting champ is set to begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Triple-A Fresno). However, I'll back Verlander and the defending champs here, as they look to avoid the three-game sweep. Verlander owns a 2.52 ERA in 11 career starts in Oakland and while Manaea has been Oakland's busiest pitcher, he's not in the class of Verlander, who is overdue to rip off a hot stretch. Take the defending champs.
Good luck...Larry

My free play for tonight is on the Cincinnati Reds over the San Francisco Giants, who have lost three in a row and six of 10. Cincinnati sweeps the series over San Francisco with a victory.
Cincinnati comes into this one with a collective on-base percentage of .335, led by outfielder Joey Votto's mark of .422. The Reds won 7-1 in Saturday's meeting, as Matt Harvey earned his sixth win of the year.
Today we're not listing pitchers, as we're simply playing against the Giants and their losing momentum.
Look for the Reds' offense to be bolstered by Eugenio Suarez, who has 26 home runs and 89 RBIs on the season, and Phillip Ervin, who has seven hits, six RBIs, two home runs and a .467 slugging percentage over his past 10 games. Both had basehits and RBIs in yesterday's win.
Take Cincinnati today, as it rolls past Frisco.
4* REDS (action)

On the heels of last night's easy freebie on the Rams and Raiders staying Under, I'm playing the New York Yankees on the Run Line today against the Toronto Blue Jays.
MAKE NOTE: All Run Line/Total plays automatically list pitchers with the starters who are scheduled to go at the time of the wager. But with this game I am not concerned with who goes for either team tonight and want you playing this game on the Run Line regardless. That being said, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to be sure you have action even if one of the pitchers scheduled to start is scratched, by re-wagering the game if that takes place.
New York sweeps the series over Toronto with a win, and more importantly stays in front of the wild-card race. Remember, the Yankees (77-46) would be in first place in any other division, but they're chasing the best team in baseball, as the Boston Red Sox already have 88 wins this season.
New York's power-packed lineup has 201 home runs this season, led by Giancarlo Stanton's mark of 32, including a blast in yesterday's 11-6 win.
Didi Gregorius hit his 22nd home run yesterday, and boasts a team-leading 73 RBIs in 117 games for the Yankees. Aaron Hicks has a .273 batting average, nine hits, eight RBIs, two home runs, a .455 slugging percentage and 10 walks over his past 10 games for New York.
The Blue Jays have lost three straight and six of 10, a span the pitching staff has a whopping 5.34 ERA.
Take the Yankees in a rout.

10* FREE MLB PICK (Yankees -1.5, -118)
I'll gladly take my chances here with New York on the -1.5 run line as they go for the series sweep here at home against the Blue Jays. The Yankees will send out one of their big trade pickups in veteran J.A. Happ, who came over from Toronto. Happ has been outstanding in his 3 starts with NY, going 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA and 0.737 WHIP. Happ knows a thing or two about this Blue Jays lineup and I look for him to continue to dominate. At the same time, I think the Yankees are going to stay hot at the plate and give him plenty of run support. NY has scored 18 runs on 19 hits in the series and Toronto's Ryan Borucki has a not so great 4.00 ERA and an ugly 1.593 WHIP in 5 road starts. Give me the Yankees -1.5, -118!

Sport/League: MLB
Date/Time: August 19, 2018 4PM EDT
Play: Arizona Diamondbacks -1.5 (-125)
We are going to lay the run line here with the Diamondbacks today as they have a massive pitching advantage, never mind that they will be good and pissed off after losing against the Padres yesterday. The starting pitchers for today’s game are for the Diamondbacks RH Zack Greinke (12-8, 3.00 ERA) and he will face the Padres RH Brett Kennedy (0-2, 11.00 ERA) Greinke had a rough start the last time on the hill and we believe he will come up here solid against a very weak hitting San Diego club. The last time Greinke was at Petco he tossed a seven-inning gem allowing only one run. We will look for more of the same from Greinke today. As for Kennedy, the rookie will be making his third MLB start. The first two have not gone so well and we believe today will be no better for the 24 yr. old. The Diamondbacks cannot afford to be losing to one of the worst teams in baseball and they will make up for last night’s loss in a big way today. So lets get the job done with the Arizona Diamondbacks minus the 1 1/2 runs for your free play for today.

DIAMONDBACKS/RED SOX PARLAY
No line on the Boston game as I’m writing this, but it will obviously be steep. As for the Diamondbacks, I like Greinke off a subpar start and I also like the Snakes off a game where they blew an early 3-0 lead and got walked off by the lowly Padres. Good shot for these two huge favorites to win. With Arizona being -130 on the runs line and the Red Sox figuring to be in that neighborhood as well, parlaying the two on the money line seems more worthwhile.
