2012 NASCAR Odds – Federated Auto Parts 400 – Hamlin & Busch Favored

RICHMOND, VA (TheSpread) – The 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is down to its final race before the Chase for the Championship, as the Federated Auto Parts 400 takes place on Saturday night.

According to oddsmakers, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch are the favorites to win this race, as each has 9/2 odds. Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon each have 8/1 odds to win this race.

Hamlin sits seventh in the point standings. He has won the last two Sprint Cup races and has four wins on the year with 11 top 5’s. He is 57 points out of first. Hamlin has two wins at Richmond and an average finish of 7.3. His driver rating at the track is 117.2, which ranks first in the series.

Kyle Busch is currently 12th in the point standings. He needs a top finish or a win to lock up a spot in the Chase for the Championship. He has just one win and six top 5’s on the year. He is 8 points ahead of Gordon for the 12th spot in the Chase, but a second win for a number of drivers, including Gordon, could knock him out of the spot. Busch has four wins at Richmond with an average finish of 4.7 at the track. His driver rating there is 116.1, which ranks second in the series.

Johnson is fourth in the point standings. He is 31 points out of first. Johnson has three wins and 12 top 5’s on the year. Johnson has three wins at Richmond with an average finish of 16.7. His driver rating at Richmond is 89.6, which ranks 10th in the series.

Stewart is 10th in the point standings. He has three wins and nine top 5’s on the year and he is 110 points out of first. Stewart has three wins at Richmond. His average finish at the track is 10.6, while his driver rating is 97.4, which ranks fourth in the series.

Gordon is 13th in the standings. He has one win and six top 5’s on the year. Gordon needs a top finish or a win to get himself ahead of Busch for the final Chase spot. Gordon has two wins at Richmond with an average finish of 14.7 at the track. His driver rating at Richmond is 96.2, which ranks sixth in the series.
