BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) - Will Orb claim victory in the 2013 Preakness Stakes or will he be edged out by another contender?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Kentucky Derby winner Orb remains a favorite at 10/11. Departing has the next best odds at 7/1 while Mylute is 8/1 and Goldencents is 9/1. Both Governor Charlie and Itsmyluckyday are both 10/1, respectively, while Will Take Charge is 12/1. Oxbow is 18/1 and Titletown Five has the longest odds at 33/1.

WIN: Departing (7/1)

Orb remains the clear favorite but the rail position hasn't been kind to contenders in the Preakness Stakes. You'd have to go all the way back to 1994 for the last time the rail produced a winner at the Preakness. Departing is fresh after not competing in the Kentucky Derby and his race history suggests that he'll challenge for the lead at some point today. He won the Grade III Illinois Derby on April 20 and placed third at the Grade II Louisiana Derby. He also won the Texas Heritage on March 2 as well as an Allowance on February 1 and a Maiden Special Weight on December 22 of last year. Look for Departing to play the role of spoiler today.

PLACE: Orb (10/11)

With only a nine-horse field Orb should finish somewhere in the top 3. (He's too talented not to.) Orb hasn't lost a start since November 10 of last year when he placed fourth at a Maiden Special Weight at Aqueduct. Since then he's won five straight races, including the Kentucky Derby on May 4. He also placed first at the Grade I Florida Derby on March 30 and at the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth. History is against him as the rail hasn't produced a winner since 1994. And at 10/11 his odds don't represent much value. Still, he should finish close to the top.

SHOW: Itsmyluckyday (10/1)

Despite finishing a disappointing 15th at the Kentucky Derby, Itsmyluckyday remains a live long shot to finish in the money at Pimlico. He placed second at the Grade I Florida Derby on March 30 and won in back-to-back starts at the Gulfstream Park Derby on January 1 and the Grade III Holy Bull Stakes on Janaury 26. He's run against decent competition throughout his career and outside of the one blemish two weeks ago at Churchill Downs, he's run fairly well. Look for him to finish in the money this evening.

The 2013 Preakness Stakes will take place tonight at 6:24PM ET (post time) from Pimlico Racecourse in Baltimore, Maryland.
