College Basketball Betting Odds and Matchups: Dec. 19
Top Betting Odds for Dec. 19
When you're betting college basketball, there are normally two huge nights of the week: Saturday and Wednesday. While we are not at the end of the first semester, there's still a pretty big schedule on Wednesday night, which includes Indiana and Duke taking on lower-tiered programs. But there are couple of more competitive games, along with a few quality NBA games. There's a college bowl game tomorrow so get your your hoops mojo on!
Xavier (7-2 SU, 2-3-1 ATS) at #11 Cincinnati (10-0 SU, 4-2 ATS)
Last year: XAVIER (-7.5) over Cincinnati, 76-53. There isn't a more physical rivalry in the country. When Xavier and Cincinnati played last season, their annual crosstown game ended with punches and punishments -- four players from each team suspended. The game has been moved away from the campuses, bringing fans of both schools together in the stands at a downtown arena. Xavier is rebuilding and Cincinnati looks good. Xavier never really recovered from the fight and suspensions. Five of the eight suspended players have moved on, including four who started last year. Xavier is 8-3 ATS L11 vs. Big East. NCAAB Line: Cincinnati is an 8-point favorite. Total: 134.
North Carolina (8-2 SU, 5-3 ATS) at Texas (6-4 SU, 3-5 ATS)
Last year: NORTH CAROLINA (-10) over Texas, 82-63. North Carolina will get to face a Texas team that's off to its worst start since 1998-99, coach Rick Barnes' first season. The Longhorns are 5-0 at home and they've won 14 straight over non-conference teams. The Tar Heels have lost in two of their last three games away from home but to teams that are currently ranked, No. 6 Indiana and No. 19 Butler. Texas' contributors are all underclassmen and one of those, starting point guard Myck Kabongo, has yet to see the floor this season due to an ongoing NCAA investigation. Sophomore reserve Jaylen Bond is dealing with a foot injury. With those players out, the Longhorns are averaging 63.3 points after scoring 72.6 per game in 2011-12. Texas is 6-13 ATS in their last 19 non-conference games. College Hoops Lines: North Carolina is a 5.5-point favorite. Total: 139.5.
Brooklyn (13-10 SU, 12-9-2 ATS, 9-13-1 O/U) at New York (18-6 SU, 14-10 ATS, 13-9-2 O/U)
Last game (Dec. 11): NY Knicks (-3.5) over BROOKLYN, 100-97. This has a chance to become a great rivalry. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, they are on a downward slide and are playing the final game of a back-to-back. The Knicks were demolished at home on Monday night against Jeremy Lin and the Rockets, 109-96 giving 7.5, in a game that wasn't that close. Carmelo Anthony (ankle) has missed the last two games and is questionable again. The Knicks just don't matchup with the younger Rockets, but they do against the slower Nets, who had lost six of eight coming into their game against Utah on Tuesday night. Knicks are 5-0 ATS L5 as a home fave of 0.5-4.5. Pro Hoops Odds: NL. Total: NT.
Oklahoma City (20-4 SU, 15-8-1 ATS, 13-11 O/U) at Atlanta (14-7 SU, 9-11-1 ATS, 11-10 O/U)
Last game: Atlanta (+9) over OKLAHOMA CITY, 104-95. Oklahoma City has won 11 straight and is undefeated in December. So much for missing James Harden! Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are now used to playing with Kevin Martin and offensively, this team can't be stopped. However, Atlanta beat them on the road in early November and they are also playing well, despite losing at home on Saturday to Golden State, 115-93. They have to slow the tempo here and make this a halfcourt game. Oklahoma City is 8-1 ATS L9 on the road in series. Basketball lines: Oklahoma City is a 5.5-point favorite. Total: 199/
