Minnesota Vikings vs. Tennessee Titans
Play: Tennessee Titans -3

Tennessee is rolling right now (3-0 SU) and, with the franchise’s first 4-0 start ever on the line, the Titans have something to keep them motivated.

Jeff Fisher’s troops have disposed of Jacksonville, Cincinnati and Houston in impressive fashion thanks to a defense that has been in a zone. The Titans have allowed a grand total of 29 points this year and swiped seven interceptions. In order to win this game, Tennessee’s defensive front seven will need to contain Minnesota RB Adrian Peterson and put a ton of pressure on quarterback Gus Frerotte. Considering the Titans already have seven sacks this year, that shouldn’t be a problem.

A solid NFL system will help Tennessee’s cause too. Since 1980, game four home teams that enter with a spotless 3-0 SU record are a sizzling 25-12 ATS provided their opponent does NOT check in off a blowout loss of 10 points or more. Two teams are locked into this “play on” set on Sunday: Dallas and Tennessee. If our host is matched up against a non-division foe, this situation tightens up to a beautiful 14-3 ATS. The Titans are the only team that applies to this tightener.

The Vikings haven’t been the league’s best road team either. In fact, as a guest priced as a favorite or a dog of +4 or less, the Purple are a dismal 11-28-2 ATS. Minnesota hasn’t found any luck on the road coming off two or more home games either. In this situation, the Vikes are a shocking 0-11 SU (3-8 ATS) and have lost by an average of 12.7 points per game!

In their last 18 at home battling an NFC foe, the Titans are a profitable 14-4 SU and ATS. Chalk up another win and cover for the AFC team. Take Tennessee!

Bears +3 over Eagles

The Eagles injuries on offense are as bad as it gets. McNabb will be returning to his home town, but will not have the offensive weapons at 100%. The entire Eagles backfield is banged up or not playing. The Eagles have key players hurt on the offensive line and receiver injuries. Last week the Bears blew the game against the bucs when they committed a personal foul in overtime. Instead of the Bears getting the ball back around midfield the Bucs continued their drive and won the game. This Bears team proved it could play of the big stage when they beat up Indy on the road this year. I do not see how the Eagles will be able to put up many points. The Bears have a lot more experience up front then the Eagles do on defense and should be able to be two dimensional in running and passing to win this game. Take Chicago.

Priceless Picks

1 Unit on Houston Texans +7

We'll make this play against the Jags who find themselves in a big letdown spot after earning a big road win over rival Indianapolis .  The Texans will be hungry for their first win of the year against a team that they have had good success against.  Houston is 3-1 SU and ATS in games over the last 3 seasons and 7-5 SU and 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings.  Houston is an impressive 12-3 ATS in road games after 2 or more consecutive losses since 1992, playing teams to within 4.5 points in these contests.  We'll take the point today.

SAN DIEGO minus vs Oakland.

Only one way to go when these two meet and that is with the Chargers who are a strong 9-1 ATS last 10 in the series, including a perfect 6-0 ATS on the road! Former Oakland coach Norv Turner hates Al Davis and will not call off the dogs once he gets ahead in this contest. The Raiders are a horrid 2-14 ATS at home versus division foes the last 16 times and are coming a tough road loss at Buffalo in the last seconds. Lay the wood with the CHARGERS!

Re: Sunday Service Plays

Paul Bovi

San Fransisco / New Orleans

San Fran is starting to gain respect as the line would indicate. The number suggests that the Saints are but 2.5 points better on a neutral field, and these are the 49ers no less. But there is reason to be high on the 49ers, who appear to have discovered a QB in JT O'Sullivan, and who possess a fine defense. New Orleans has lost 2 weapons on offense in Marques Colston and David Patten, the latter who is likely to sit with a groin issue, thus relegating WR David Moore to the top seed, as he had 7 catches on Sunday. Defensively, CB Randall Gay will sit as will soon to be 36 year old DB Aaron Glenn. The Saints are already vulnerable in the secondary as we all know. The 49ers will raise eyebrows here and while they may not get the win, it will be awfully close. Take the points

Re: Sunday Service Plays

Tony Mathews

Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Selection: Houston Texans +7

We will side with the Houston Texans as they face-of against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Sunday’s NFL contest. Last week’s game between Jacksonville and Colts was good a matchup. The Jaguars won on the road in Indianapolis taking advantage of the Colt’s yielding rush defense, controlling the game flow at a slow pace which served them in staying within the number, and achieve a victory SU. The fact is that the Jacksonville ground game and the firm defense that enables them to persistently hang around against their opponents will also necessarily lack the depth and volatility to get big point spread wins.

Against Pittsburg and Tennessee, Gary Kubiak and the Texans have been defeated by 69-29 combined score. At the face this looks really awful, but digging a little deeper we see it’s not at all an accurate indicator. First of all, they lost on the field only by -2 in first downs and -97 in total offense. The difficulties lay in the red zone, managing only 12 points in Tennessee for example, even though they crossed the 20 yard line 6 times. What is most ambiguous in this case is the final drive when Cortland Finnegan returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown to make it 31-12. This game could have easily been 24-19, although that certainly wouldn’t have worked in our favor since we wouldn’t have been able to get the full +7.

We normally tend to see some kind of intimidation factor or some bad matchups when we get an underdog in this range, but neither of these conditions is true in this case. In this series Houston is 3-1 SU and ATS. They had all eight quarters of the 2008 season on the road where they stood up against some very physical defenses such as the Titans and the Steelers. Those challenges make them very well prepared for the kind of opponent they face this week. In addition, the defense presents some nice advantages to us. They have mixed things up a bit in the defensive front, like lining Mario Williams up at different spots which works well to confuse an unstable Jacksonville offensive line. The Jag’s OL is pretty bad even though they have a mobile QB in David Garrard. Their pass blocking has still allowed 9 sacks in 94 pass plays which are a difficulty that makes any sort of margin for Jacksonville highly unattainable. Another valuable tidbit for us is in Jack Del Rio’s intention of just maintaining a decent lead rather than any kind of margin; a result that leaves the Texans on good terms as far as the pointspread goes.

Take Houston Texans +7

VEGAS EXPERTS

Buffalo Bills at St. Louis Rams

3-0 Buffalo heads into St. Louis to take on the 0-3 Rams and the fortunes of these two respective franchises could not be any more different right now. St. Louis is dead last in the league in both total offense and defense, having been outscored 116-29 in their three games. They have an 0-7 ATS record in the month of September and and are 3-12 ATS as an underdog. Time for Scott Linehan to start posting his resume on Monster.com.

Re: Sunday Service Plays

Nelly

Carolina - over Atlanta

The Panthers lost a very tough game last week but his could be a breakout game for the Carolina offense after facing very tough defenses the past two weeks. Atlanta is a surprise 2-1 team but the Falcons got both wins at home against teams that have combined to go 0-6 and were generally expected to be terrible this season. On the road at Tampa Bay two weeks ago the Falcons struggled to run the ball and road games typically are not friendly to rookie QBs. Atlanta has very poor defensive numbers considering how weak the schedule has been.

King Creole Sports

CLEVELAND BROWNS / CINCINNATI BENGALS OVER the TOTAL

Both teams come in with identical 0-3 SU records.. and that's usually the sign for a high-scoring outcome:
GAME FOUR teams off to a 0-3 SU start are 22-11 O/U since the 2001 season.... and 12-1-1 O/U if they are taking on an opponent off a SU loss (BOTH teams qualify).

The Brownies are active in a "Before BYE" System that's produced a lot of points as well:
29-13-2 O/U in the last 10 years for all GAME FOUR Teams the week before their BYE (Browns). These teams are also 12-1 O/U when taking on a division opponent.

Cleveland has struggled to score points in their first three games... as they have notched only 26 overall (8.7 PPG avg). That's been 10 pts in week one... 6 pts in week two.. and 10 pts in week three.
GAME FOUR teams who have scored 13 < points in EACH of their first three games (Browns) have gone 16-5-1 O/U in the last 20 years.

Cincinnati almost broke through with their first win last week, as they took the Giants to overtime before losing by a field goal.NFL teams off a SU loss of 3 or less points as a DOUBLE DIGIT Underdog (Bengals) are 10-1 O/U in the last 4 years.

Re: Sunday Service Plays

Sportsbettingstats

Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys -11

The Cowboys come into this big rivalry after beating the Green Bay Packers 27-16, while the Redskins came from behind and beat the New Orleans Saints 27-24. This game is a huge NFC East match up, as every game in the division is important being in that it is the toughest division in football and every team in the division has a winning record. The Cowboys are led by Tony Romo (892 yds 5 TD 3 INT) and his main targets are WR Terrell Owens (10 rec 193 yds 3 TD) and TE Jason Witten (20 rec 273 yds). The Copyboys rushing attack is led by Marion Barber III (285 yds 4 TD). The Redskins are led by QB Jason Campbell (647 yds 4 TD) and his main targets are WR Santana Moss (19 rec 276 yds 3 TD) and TE Chris Cooley (13 rec 151 yds). The Skins rushing attack is led by RB Clinton Portis (248 yds 3 TD).

Staff Pick:Both teams come into this game after winning their last game and both teams are playing well and are full of confidence. The Redskins got some bad news this week, as LB Jason Taylor will miss the game with an injury. That is a big loss, as he can pressure the QB and without him the Skins will have to blitz more often to put pressure on Romo. The Dallas D is ranked 9th in the league and especially strong against the run. The Redskins D is ranked 13th and especially strong against the pass. The key to this game will be each teams RB's, as if Portis can gain some yards against a tough Dallas front line it will open up the passing game for Campbell. Barber III has to pick up some yards so the Skins D does not only focus on stopping the dynamic passing attack of the Cowboys. The Skins D has to put pressure on Romo, as if he has time to pass the Cowboys will be tough to beat, The Skins have Dallas this week and then play at Philadelphia next week and they need to win at least one of those games to stay in the NFC East picture. Look for the Skins to come out and play aggressive, but for the Dallas D to step up and stop the Skins rushing attack. The Cowboys will win this game, but it will be a close one and the Redskins will cover the spread.

Cowboys 27 Redskins 19

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers -6

The Steelers come into this game after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles 15-6, while the Ravens beat the Cleveland Browns 28-10. This is a HUGE AFC North match up, as first place in the division is at stake. The Steelers are led by Ben Roethlisberger (447 yds 3 TD 1 INT) and his main targets are Hines Ward (15 rec 169 yds 3 TD) and Santonio Holmes (10 rec 145 yds). The Steelers rushing attack will be led by backup RB Rashard Mendenhall (28 yds), as starting RB Willie Parker, 8th in the league in rushing yards, is out for the game with a sprained knee. The Ravens are led by rookie QB Joe Flacco (258 0 TD 2 INT) and his main targets are Derrick Mason (8 rec 86) and TE Todd Heap (3 rec 37 yds). The Ravens rushing attack is led by FB Le'Ron McClain (152 yds 2 TD).

Staff Pick: This game promises to be an old-fashioned smash mouth defensive game with not a lot of scoring. Ravens QB Flacco has not put up great numbers, but he has managed the offense well and has not made many rookie mistakes. Roethlisberger will be facing a Ravens D that is ranked #1 in the NFL. How good is the Ravens D? Well, they are giving up an average of only 70 rushing yards per game and 91.5 passing yards per game. The Steelers D is also legit ranked 2nd and especially tough against the run. The weak link on the Steelers is their offensive line, which was seen last week when they gave up 9 sacks to the Eagles. Roethlisberger is banged up, Parker is out with an injury, and the Steelers O line is weak and facing a ferocious Ravens D. However, the Steelers face a rookie QB, who is 2-0 in his first two starts but has played against weak defenses of the Browns and the Bengals. Flacco can prove he is for real if he can deal with the tough Steelers D. Can the Steelers offense rebound and score points without their leading RB? For the Steelers to be successful their O line has to protect Big Ben and backup RB Rashard Mendenhall has to pick up some yards, which is no easy task against the Ravens D. Look for a low scoring game, but for the Ravens to come out and dominate the Steelers on defense and score just enough to win this game.

Ravens 13 Steelers 10
