Re: SATURDAY PREMIUM SERVICE PLAYS

Eddie Roman

Second Ever Executive Internet Release

Alabama Crimson Tide +7 @ Georgia

Very tough spot for Georgia to be in against a very good team that is looking to make a statement and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Alabama went into Georgia and won this game outright easily.

Two weeks ago Georgia was at South Carolina and they struggled to beat a bad Gamecocks team on the road. Last week they had to travel to Arizona State and while they looked good in dismissing the Sun Devils, I can't get too excited about that win because it did come against another bad team.

So, after two straight road games in two different time zones, they have to come home and play a team that is probably playing with more confidence then any team in the country.

Last year, a subpar Alabama team took Georgia into Overtime. This year, I feel they will get over the hump in a major way. They have so much balance and they flat out get after it on the defensive side of the football. They bombed what was supposed to be a good Clemson team and they just murdered Arkanasas. OK, the Razorbacks aren't that good but at least 'Bama crushed them which is more then I can say for what Georgia has done the last 2 weeks.

I truly feel Alabama is the better team, Georgia is just the team who gets the hype. I feel 'Bama is faster and better on both sides of the ball plus I love Nick Saban in big games. He will have his team ready to go and well prepared.

Look for 'Bama to win outright but if they don't, they won't lose by more then 3

Re: SATURDAY PREMIUM SERVICE PLAYS

Trace Adams and Drew Gordon (night play)

2000* - Nebraska, 1000* - Oklahoma State, 500*s - Minnesota, & New Mexico State Talk about a "perfect storm"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Consider this:

Virginia Tech's offense hasn't topped 24 points in any of their 4 games to date. The Hokies needed a comeback win over a North Carolina team that lost its starting QB, and the Gobblers haven't traveled this far west during the regular season since the 2002 campaign when they played at Texas A&M.

I know the Hokies have solid underdog numbers under Frank Beamer, but this Beamer-coached team is clearly in the rebuilding-mode, and I feel their 3-1 mark is a little fraudulent.

Nebraska may not be as good as the hype that 1st year coach Bo Pelini has generated, but they did have off last week, and this is their 4th straight game at home. They have moved the start from 3pm eastern to 8pm eastern, and that will help the crowd get a little more "into it" under the lights in Lincoln where the 'Huskers sport a 26-3 straight up record at night!

The Cornhuskers have also scored at least 35-points in each of their last 6 games. HUGE "statement game" for the ascending Nebraska program, and they do get senior OL Christiansen back from suspension for this one.

Also consider that Bo Pelini's defense at LSU last season held V-Tech to just 7 points, and 149 total yards. I have a feeling that defensive blueprint will be employed in this one, and the offensively-challenged Hokies will have a hard time finding the endzone once again.

Nebraska makes their "statement" here!

2000♦ - Nebraska Cornhuskers - 8:00 pm

"REVENGE" is the call of the night in Stillwater this Saturday night, as Oklahoma State was humiliated on national TV 41-23 at Troy last season.

Troy's defense played out of their minds last week in their narrow loss at Ohio State, and in the process the Trojans lost their star defender Kenny Mainor. Gonna be hard for the Trojans to get back up for the 2nd week in a row on the road, and then their is the issue that the Cowboys have covered their last 6 as a double-digit chalk.

Okie State was idle last week after a 57-13 romp over Missouri State, and while they do have a conference game on-deck, that game happens to be against a suspect Texas A&M bunch.

3rd game in a row at home for Mike Gundy's bunch, and the 'Pokes are 22-2 straight up their last 24 at Boone Pickens Stadium, 12-6 against the spread as the home chalk.

Lay it, as State gets their revenge in a big way against a beat up Troy squad.

1000♦ - Oklahoma State Cowboys - 7:00 pm

Early action in the Big 10, and I know Ohio State has made their QB switch, inserting the mobile Terrelle Pryor, and the Bucks are expected to have star RB Beanie Wells back in action as well, but this price seems a little steep for a Buckeyes team that has failed all 3 lined games thus far.

Ohio State has a big conference showdown at Wisconsin up next, and with Pryor, and Wells trying to get in rhythm, I think the Golden Gophers can sneak inside the back-door at the horseshoe.

Sure, Minnesota's 4-0 mark is not as impressive as it appears, but 2nd year coach Tim Brewster has this team headed in the right direction. The Buckeyes struggled for a long time last week at home in dispatching a prickly Troy team, I expect the Gophers to hang with the Bucks just enough to stay inside the generous impost.

Dog play on Minny.

500♦ - Minnesota Golden Gophers - 12:00 pm

The Lobos are clearly headed in a downward direction, as Rocky Long's crew is just 1-3 both straight up, and against the spread this year, and last week they lost their starting QB Porterie for the season!

New Mexico State just scored an upset win at UTEP, and Hal Mumme's team is on a 6-3-1 spread run their last 10 at Las Cruces.

QB Chase Holbrook threw for 5 scores in last week's upset, and he will be facing a Lobos' D that has allowed 12 TD passes in their last 3 games.

Look for the Wolves 5 game series winning streak to come to a halt tonight, as the Aggies gain a measure of revenge.

500♦ - New Mexico State Aggies - 8:00 pm

Re: SATURDAY PREMIUM SERVICE PLAYS

Al DeMarco

Saturday's Pick
15 Dime - Nebraska

Virginia Tech is coming off a 20-17 victory at North Carolina. On paper, that's impressive when you consider how the Tar Heels dismantled Rutgers on the road on national TV the previous week. But as I often say, you must dig deeper into the boxscore to find the true essence of a game.

Last Saturday in Chapel Hill, the Hokies were being dominated on the field and found themselves trailing 17-3 in the third quarter. But, the game changed once the Tar Heels lost their starting quarterback to an injury. A redshirt freshman brought in by UNC was a disaster and V-Tech rallied for the win in a game it managed only 268 total yards and converted just 3-of-16 third-down conversions. Clearly, the loss of North Carolina's starting QB and the fact the Tar Heels were penalized 14 times for 121 yards in addition to committing four turnovers propelled the Hokies to the rally for the upset win.

Virginia Tech turned to Tyrod Taylor at quarterback after getting upset in its opener by East Carolina. And although Taylor has guided the team to two big ACC wins (G-Tech was the other), he's not much of a passer and was intercepted twice by the Tar Heels in a game in which he also sprained an ankle. Taylor will play today but you've got to wonder how the ankle will affect him, especially since mobility is such a large part of his game.

The Virginia Tech offense is not foreign to Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini, who served as LSU's defensive coordinator when the Tigers beat the Hokies last season 48-7. This is Pelini's first big game at the Husker helm after starting the season 3-0 with home routs of Western Michigan (47-24), San Jose State (35-12) and New Mexico State (38-7).

Pelini was lured back to Lincoln to rebuild this once-proud program and tonight is a game in which his team must simply deliver a solid, convincing victory before kicking off conference play next weekend with a visit from Missouri. With the benefit of an extra week of prep time - a situation in which Nebraska has won eight in a row (5-1 ATS) when hosting a non-Big 12 vistor - the Husker faithful are rewareded with a double-digit win.
