Note: This line appears to be moving upward from an opening of 5.5 and already is at +6 at Bodog, which is generally a fore-warner of things to come. If you can't get the 6, do not buy it up as I don't think that it will be needed. Who would have thunk that Chicago would be 2-4 as we head into week 7 of the NFL? Their Defense has been the major problem, and has been so because of numerous injuries. They are much healthier this week though with Walker expected to play and other players not ailing as much and I do expect a much stronger performance from them. Philly has averaged 20 ppg but take away the 56 point effort verses the Lions and that figure goes downward...way downward. Neither one of these teams are lighting any fires this year and both need this game badly. The Bears are getting much more production from the offensive unit and have produced 27 or more points in their last 3 games. They certainly have the ability to stay in any game and with an Eagle team struggling to get the offense going, they should be able to win this game or stay very close. This line is an overeaction to what we have seen so far and I will gladly take the points, which will be huge in this contest.

BIG AL's EARLY AFTERNOON UNDERDOG SHOCKER

At 1 pm, our selection is on the Buffalo Bills plus the points over Baltimore. The Ravens are 4-2 this year, but easily could be 1-5 as San Francisco, Arizona and the New York Jets gave the Ravens all they could handle in defeat. Only a 22-3 blowout of the hapless, injury-riddled Rams last week was easy for this Baltimore team. The previous week, the Ravens escaped with a 9-7 win over San Francisco when Joe Nedney's FG attempt missed with a few minutes left in the game. I look for the Ravens to lose at Rich Stadium, as NFL road teams are a dismal 18-46 ATS since 1980 after giving up less than 10 points in back to back wins, provided they covered by 7 or more in their last game, and are not getting 5+ points. Buffalo had last week off following its 1-point loss to Dallas, and the Bills are a solid 7-2 at home off a loss, if rested, including 4-0 if their loss also came at home. Take the Bills. BIG AL's 17-1 ATS NFL DIVISION GAME OF THE YEAR

At 1 pm, our AFC East Game of the Year is on the Miami Dolphins plus the points over New England, as Miami falls into 34-17, 17-1, 28-5, 76-36, 30-11, 14-7, 51-24, 50-21, 39-25 and 29-6 systems of mine. Let's take a look at our 17-1 ATS system. What we want to do is play on any winless team at Game 5 of the season or later, at home off a pointspread loss, vs. a winning team. These winless teams obviously are hungry for a victory and play quite well. The home team in this series is 33-22 ATS since 1980, including 14-4 the last 18 meetings, and a perfect 4-0 ATS when the spread is double-digits. Take Miami. Good luck, as always, Al McMordie. At 4:15 pm, our selection is on the Dallas Cowboys minus the points over Minnesota, as the Vikings fall into a nasty 13-40 ATS system after upsetting their division rival, the Chicago Bears, on the road last week. Since 1980, road dogs off exactly one win have covered just 13 of 53 games vs. a .200 (or better) non-division foe after upsetting a division rival on the road.
