Stars vs. Panthers NHL Prediction
Oddsmakers are clearly expecting a high-scoring game in Sunrise, FL on Friday night, where the Panthers will host the Stars at 7:00 p.m. ET. That said, is 6.5 goals way too high for this matchup?

Joe Pavelski is the first player to have a five-point game at the age of 37 or older since Teemu Selanne did it in 2011. In addition to Pavelski and Selanne, Wayne Gretzky, Joe Sakic, Brett Hull, and Mario Lemieux have also accomplished that feat. That's a flattering list for Pavelski to be a part of. “It’s a fun night,” Pavelski said. “The puck’s going in the net. We’re getting a lot of chances. The fifth one, usually when you have a night where you put a few points on the board, it’s your linemates have been really good, which was a big part of the case here tonight.” Pavelski has 15 goals and 35 points in 33 contests this season.

Andrew Brunette doesn't think his selection as a coach for the all-star game is a reflection of his performance. “It’s probably not completely deserved,” Brunette conceded. “It’s how well our group played. I’m just a benefit of how they’ve played all year.” Brunette took over as the Panthers' head coach after Joel Quenneville resigned. Florida got off to a 8-0-0 start under Quenneville, but they stayed strong since the coaching change, posting a 16-7-5 record under Brunette. As Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad noted, Brunette stepped into a difficult situation surrounding Quenneville's situation and managed to navigate the team through it. As far as Ekblad is concerned, Brunette deserves the nomination.
