Will Rodgers find Rodgers again?
Richard Rodgers became a Green Bay Packers hero last week with his Hail Mary catch. Will Rodgers build off that today against the Dallas Cowboys?
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, Green Bay is favored at home in this game, as the Packers are getting odds of -6.5 points against the Cowboys. The over/under total for the game has been set at 42.5 points. These two meet up today at 4:25PM ET on FOX.
Rodgers had the most important catch of the season for GB (8-4, 7-5 ATS) last week as his game-winning TD catch gave the Packers a 27-23 win over the Lions and allowed GB to avoid a fifth loss in six games. In a season where injuries have piled up on offense for the Packers, Rodgers has slowly emerged as a reliable target for Aaron Rodgers. The second-year TE from Cal has caught 48 passes for 439 yards and six touchdowns this season but is coming off an eight-catch, 146-yard performance last week.
The Packers look to get back-to-back wins today when they face the Cowboys (4-8, 4-8 ATS), who are coming off their first win without Tony Romo at QB, beating the Redskins last week, 19-16. Despite the poor record, Dallas has a solid pass defense, allowing just 222.4 yards per game, which ranks fifth in the NFL. The Cowboys have also been somewhat stingy against tight ends, allowing just 52 catches for 536 yards and three touchdowns this season. In their last five games, Dallas has held opposing tight ends to 44 yards or less in four of those games. Rodgers still has an increasing role in this offense. He has had at least five targets in five straight games for Green Bay. Oddsmakers have listed Rodgers with an over/under of 4 receptions and 43.5 yards for this game. Don't be surprised if he is able to land the over in both.
