Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Bills are the favorite at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Jets. The over/under total is currently listed at 38 points. The public betting for this game currently has 74 percent going on the Bills at home.
Jets on massive skid
The New York Jets have lost six straight games coming into Sunday following a 26-22 loss at Tennessee last week. New York is 3-9 overall, 4-8 against the spread and 7-5 with the over.
The Jets are not playing well on either side of the ball. The defense is giving up 25.6 points and 376.4 yards per game while the offense averages just 20.2 points and 300.4 yards per contest. Rookie QB Sam Darnold has thrown for 1,934 yards and 11 touchdowns, but has 14 interceptions. He’s been bothered by a foot injury, but is expected to play on Sunday. Leading rusher Isaiah Crowell may not play. He is questionable with a toe injury. Crowell has rushed for 680 yards and six touchdowns.
Bills showing improvement
Buffalo was unable to win a third straight game last week, but only lost 21-17 at Miami. The Bills have still won two of their last three. Buffalo is now 4-8 overall, 5-7 against the spread and 7-5 with the under. Buffalo has hit the over in three of its last four games.
The Bills have been led by defense this season. Despite giving up 24.4 points per game, they have the second-best defense in the NFL in terms of yards allowed at just 294.2 per game. Their pass defense leads the NFL (187.2 ypg). Offensively, Buffalo is one of the worst in the league. They are 31st in points scored (14.8 ppg) and total yards (285.7 ypg). Still, rookie quarterback Josh Allen is showing improvement. He has thrown for 1,223 yards and five touchdowns with seven interceptions while rushing for 389 yards and four scores. LeSean McCoy is the leading rusher with 478 yards and two touchdowns while Zay Jones is the leading receiver with 41 catches for 459 yards and four scores.
NFL Betting Trends
New York
The Jets have hit the under in four of their last five division games and in five of their last seven after a cover.
Buffalo
Buffalo has hit the over in 19 of its last 26 home games and in nine of its last 11 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Prediction:
These two put up 51 points just a few weeks ago in New York, as Buffalo scored 41 points in a win over the Jets. I can actually see more of the same this weekend. The Bills are playing with a lot more confidence on offense behind Allen and I expect they can score some points on this New York defense. The Jets have been prone to turnovers as well, so it could give Buffalo some short fields to work with. With Buffalo grabbing a big lead early, I can see the Jets adding some points late to push the total over.
NFL Prediction: Jets/Bills Over 38
