Carolina suffered a 35-32 loss at Oakland last week to fall to 4-7 on the year. The Panthers are also just 3-7-1 against the spread and 6-5 with the over. The issue for the Panthers hasn’t been a dramatic decline in offense, it’s been the dramatic decline in its defense. The Panthers are giving up 25.5 points and 371.8 yards per game. They are also allowing 292.4 yards per game through the air as the loss of Josh Norman has certainly been a factor. The defense does have 31 sacks as well with 16 forced turnovers, but the team will be without its captain today as Luke Kuechly is out with a concussion. On offense, Carolina is averaging 25.1 points and 371.7 yards per game. Cam Newton has thrown for 2,432 yards and 13 touchdowns with eight interceptions while rushing for 274 yards and five scores. Carolina’s run game is pretty weak as well. Jonathan Stewart is the leading rusher with 461 yards and seven scores.
