Washington Redskins Fantasy Spin

Redskins RB Chris Thompson (toe) is expected to play Sunday against the Panthers. Thompson hasn't played since Week 6. It'd be a lot easier to get behind either Derrius Guice or Adrian Peterson if they weren't splitting snaps and touches nearly right down the middle. Thompson is tentatively expected to take most of Wendell Smallwood's pass-down snaps, but there's a chance we see a full-blown four-RB committee here. Please try to avoid this entire offense if at all possible. The Redskins haven't scored even 20 points since Week 2.

Carolina Panthers Fantasy Spin

Kyle Allen completed 23-of-36 attempts for 256 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers' Week 12 loss to the Saints. It was a strong performance for Allen after last week's four-interception game, and he gave the Panthers a chance to take the lead with two minutes left on the clock, yet was foiled by a short missed kick by Joey Slye. Allen hit a beautiful deep shot to D.J. Moore for a 52-yard score and saw another endzone shot draw a defensive pass interference. He did take four sacks, but the Panthers dealt with multiple offensive line injuries and Allen calmly dealt with pressure on multiple occasions. We expect Allen to hold down the starting job for the rest of the season, but he surely will not be the Panthers primary plan for 2020.

NFL Betting Trends

Washington

The Redskins are just 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games overall and are 2-5 at the betting window when facing an opponent with a losing record.

Carolina

The Panthers are 2-5 against the number in their last seven games played in the month of December and are 3-9 against the spread in their last 12 games when facing an opponent with a losing record.

Prediction

Haskins picked up the first win of his career last Sunday versus the Lions but that doesn’t mean he played well (he didn’t). Washington lacks talent on offense and while the defense is better than the team’s 2-9 record would indicate, I’ll roll the dice that McCaffrey and Co. can mount drives and get into the end zone enough to cash for bettors. There’s always a threat of a backdoor cover by laying this many points but that would have to mean the Redskins are close enough at the end of the game to ruin a Panthers cover. I’ll take my chances.

NFL Week 13 Prediction: Carolina Panthers -10
