Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Saints are 7.5-point favorites to beat the Cowboys. The total, meanwhile, sits at 53 points. As of this writing, 65% of the public betting tickets are on the Saints to cover the point spread.

New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees completed 15-of-22 passes for 171 yards, four touchdowns, and one pick in the Saints' Week 12 rout of the Falcons. His total yardage wasn't too impressive, but Brees hit four different UDFAs (Tommylee Lewis, Dan Arnold, Austin Carr, Keith Kirkwood) for touchdowns Thursday as the Saints stayed efficient on offense throughout the night. Brees' lone flaw of the evening occurred because Kirkwood slipped at the end of a route. Even Michael Thomas (4/38) essentially had the night off as New Orleans forced five fumbles and coasted behind stellar defense and explosiveness up the middle from Alvin Kamara (14/89) and Mark Ingram (11/52). Brees tied an NFL record by hitting 13 different receivers for pay dirt this season, all but securing his late-season run as league MVP. He'll be an easy QB1 despite having his work cut out for him against Dallas' stout pass rush in Week 13.

Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott completed 22-of-31 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys' 31-23, Week 12 win over the Redskins. Prescott added 18 yards and a third touchdown on the ground. His five-yard rushing score was a thing of magic, escaping two sacks deep in the backfield close to the 20-yard line and then front-flipping into the end zone. His two passing scores were 40- and 90-yard strikes to Amari Cooper, who went for 180 yards. The 289 pass yards is a new season-high for Prescott, and he's topped 200 yards passing in all four games with Cooper after failing to reach that mark several times before the deal. Prescott will be a borderline QB1 next Thursday versus the Saints.

NFL Betting Trends

New Orleans

The under is 6-0-1 in the Saints’ last seven games played on Thursday.

Dallas

The over is 4-0 in the Cowboys’ last four home games.

Prediction

The over has been profitable in this series, cashing in four of the last five meetings and in four straight when the game is played in Dallas. The Saints “only” scored 31 points last week at home versus the Falcons, but they were coming off a short week and were perhaps due for a small letdown. The Cowboys, meanwhile, have more explosiveness since the addition of Amari Cooper and they’re playing with as much confidence as anyone in the league following upset wins over the Eagles and Falcons, as well as a home victory last week versus the Redskins. I like the over.
