New York Giants Fantasy Spin
SNY's Ralph Vacchiano reports the Giants are "seriously considering" placing Sterling Shepard on injured reserve for concussion-like symptoms. Shepard is visiting a specialist in Pittsburgh to shed some light on his brain injury, but the Giants could opt to send him to injured reserve since he's had two concussions this season. Shepard was forced to re-enter the concussion protocol after his symptoms popped up again, so he's definitely week to week in the best-case scenario. Some Giants players reportedly have questioned if Shepard will continue playing football in general but that's just speculation for now. Vacchiano also notes a decision to send Shepard to IR "might not come for a while" since the Giants have a Week 11 bye. When Shepard is sidelined, the Giants will funnel targets to Golden Tate, Saquon Barkley, and Evan Engram (foot) while Darius Slayton operates as a low-volume deep threat.
New York Jets Fantasy Spin
Le'Veon Bell (knee) is questionable for the Jets' Week 10 matchup against the Giants. When asked of Bell's chances of playing Week 10 against the Giants, Jets coach Adam Gase said, "It looks good." It's better to treat Bell as more of an upside RB2 based on volume alone if active against the Giants in Week 10. He's the PPR RB15 this season despite the Jets' general ineptitude and set up well against the Giants' 23rd-ranked defense in fewest PPR per game allowed to opposing RBs. The Jets would likely utilize a two-back committee of sorts with Ty Montgomery as the lead pass-down back and Bilal Powell as the primary early-down option if Bell ultimately misses time. Each would be thin plays inside of the league's 31st-ranked scoring offense.
NFL Betting Trends
NY Giants
The over is 9-3 in the Giants’ last 12 games coming off a loss of more than 14 points.
NY Jets
The over is 5-1 in the Jets’ last six games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
Prediction
Both offenses stink but that’s negated by the fact that both defenses are also garbage. The Giants won’t have Shepard or Evan Engram, but they have more than enough in Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones and Golden Tate to move the ball against the Jets. On the other side, if ever there were a time for Sam Darnold to snap out of his funk, this is it. The Giants’ secondary hasn’t been good all year and they don’t have much of a pass rush. The over is 6-0 in the Giants’ last six road games and is 7-1 in the Jets’ last eight games when facing an opponent with a losing record.
