Browns shake things up
The Browns are coming off a 33-18 loss at Pittsburgh last weekend and then elected to part ways with head coach Hue Jackson and OC Todd Haley this week. DC Gregg Williams is now the interim coach. Cleveland is 2-5-1 on the season, 5-3 against the spread and 4-4 with the over/under total.
Cleveland has been a mess on defense, which makes it interesting that Williams is now the coach. The Browns are giving up 26.3 points and 428.8 yards per game this season, including nearly 290 passing yards per game. Offensively, the Browns are putting up 21.1 points and 369 yards per contest. Rookie Baker Mayfield has thrown for 1,471 yards and eight touchdowns, but also has six interceptions and has been sacked 20 times. Rookie Nick Chubb has emerged as the feature back. He has run for 318 yards and three touchdowns. Jarvis Landry is the leading receiver with 49 catches for 528 yards and two scores.
Chiefs rolling along
The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off another good win, defeating the Broncos 30-23 to move to 7-1 on the season. The Chiefs are 7-1 against the spread as well and 4-3-1 with the over. They failed to cover for the first time in last week’s win over the Broncos.
Kansas City has an offense that can’t be contained. The Chiefs are averaging 36.3 points and 430.6 yards per game, including 315 passing yards per contest. Patrick Mahomes is a leading MVP candidate right now, as he has thrown for 2,526 yards and 26 touchdowns with just six interceptions. Tyreek Hill is his leading receiver with 44 catches for 705 yards and seven touchdowns while Kareem Hunt has rushed for 592 yards and five scores. He also has 262 receiving yards with five touchdowns. Defensively, KC has not been good. The Chiefs are giving up 25.6 points and 451.5 yards per contest. They are allowing 324 passing yards per contest.
NFL Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Browns are 5-15-1 against the spread in their last 21 games against winning teams and 7-18 ATS in their last 25 home games.
Kansas City
The Chiefs are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven conference games and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 road games.
Prediction:
Cleveland could come out with some fire following the coaching change, but I think they are in over their head against the Chiefs. Kansas City isn’t great on defense, but its good enough to limit the points from the Browns. Offensively, Kansas City should be able to torch this Cleveland secondary, which is amongst the worst in the NFL. Go with the Chiefs to roll.
NFL Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs -7.5
