Colts vs. Packers Pick

NFL Picks: Is 54 points too high of a total for the Colts and Packers?

Will the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers get into a shootout when they meet up this Sunday at 4:25PM ET?

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Packers are the clear favorite at home, as Green bay is getting odds of -7.5 points against the Colts. The over/under total for the game is listed at a lofty number of 54 points. The home team has won six straight meetings in this series and they have hit the over in five straight encounters.

Bet on Colts vs. Packers

The Packers are coming off a 33-32 loss at Atlanta last week to fall to 4-3 on the season. Green Bay has picked up its offensive performance the last two weeks, scoring 58 points in the two games. The offense is now averaging 24.6 points and 354.1 yards per contest. Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 1,742 yards and 17 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He could use more help in the run game as the team has just 737 rushing yards in 2016. Eddie Lacy is now on IR due to an ankle injury, so the Packers have questions at RB. Green Bay is 4-3 with the under on the year, as the defense is holding opponents to just 22.3 points and 339.4 yards per contest. Green Bay has been exceptional against the run, allowing 74.4 yards per game. They also has 19 sacks as a team. The Pack could also get Clay Matthews back this week after missing last week with a hamstring injury.

Indianapolis is coming off a 30-14 loss at home to the Chiefs. It was the Colts worst loss of the season. They are now 3-5 on the year and 6-2 with the over. While the Colts have a tremendous offense that puts up 26 points per game, they are one of the worst defensive units in the league, allowing 28.8 points and 413.1 yards per game. The defense also have just 14 sacks and seven turnovers in their eight games. Andrew Luck has thrown for 2,284 yards and 16 touchdowns this year, but his line is having trouble protecting him. Luck has been sacked 31 times on the year and the Colts are averaging just 99.6 rushing yards per game.

The total has been set very high, but with good reason. The Colts have proven an ability to move the ball on most teams while the Packers are showing signs of life on offense and set to face one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Green Bay has some good numbers, but just gave up 33 points against the Falcons, so the Colts should find ways to pass the ball around. Take a chance on the lofty over in this one.
