Green Bay Packers Fantasy Spin
Aaron Rodgers completed 23-of-33 passes for 306 yards with three touchdowns in the Packers' Week 8 win over the Chiefs. Rodgers came out firing after his six TD game last week. He continued to spread it around in the absence of Davante Adams, with no receiver going over 50 yards. Rodgers made a highlight cross-body throw to Jamaal Williams in the back corner of the end-zone for one of his touchdowns, with his other two going to Aaron Jones. He was also a factor in the run game, adding 29 yards on six carries. Rodgers is on pace for 4,650 yards and a 32:4 TD/INT ratio. With Adams targeting a Week 9 return, Rodgers should get a nice second-half boost.
Los Angeles Chargers Fantasy Spin
Melvin Gordon compiled 31 yards and a touchdown on eight carries while soaking up two catches for three yards on three targets Sunday in L.A.’s Week 8 win over the Bears. As he's been most of the year, Gordon was largely ineffective on Sunday, though he salvaged the day with a 19-yard touchdown gallup in the second quarter, which accounted for his first rushing touchdown of 2019. That also marked Gordon's first run of over seven yards this season. He out-touched teammate Austin Ekeler 10-5 and also out-gained him with 34 yards to Ekeler's 22. Not much has gone right for Gordon, who has averaged an embarrassing 2.55 yards per carry since throwing in the towel on his ill-fated contract holdout. He'll remain a shaky RB2 when the Bolts host Green Bay in Week 9.
Green Bay
The Packers have covered the spread in four straight road games and are 6-2 against the number in their last eight games overall.
Los Angeles
The Chargers are just 2-5-2 against the spread in their last nine games overall and are 11-29-1 at the betting window in their last 41 home games.
NFL Week 9 Prediction
The Chargers picked up a win last week in Chicago but they were outgained by the Bears, allowed more first downs and gained fewer first downs, and largely benefited from a second half Mitchell Trubisky fumble and a missed field goal to pull off said victory. Philip Rivers and Co. have been held to 20 or fewer points in four consecutive games and the defense has played well, we’ll see how that unit holds up against Rodgers with no Derwin James. The Packers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games versus the Chargers and the road team has covered in four of the last five meetings as well.
