Lions improving on offense

The Detroit Lions are coming off a 32-21 win over the Dolphins at Miami last weekend to move to 3-3 on the year. The Lions have won three of their last four and are now 5-1 against the spread and 5-1 with the over. They have covered the spread in five straight.

Detroit is putting up 26.2 points and 391.7 yards per game on offense this year. Their offense is getting a nice boost from the run game as of late. Last week they rushed for over 200 yards as a team. Rookie Kerryon Johnson has a pair of 100-yards games this year and has 444 yards on 69 carries on the season. Matthew Stafford has thrown for 1,602 yards and 12 touchdowns with five interceptions. Defensively, the Lions are giving up 26.3 points and 384.3 yards per game. They have one of the worst run defenses in the league, allowing 139.3 yards per game. However, the team tried to improve on that this week by trading for Damon Harrison, one of the best run stuffers in the NFL.

Seahawks rested

The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a bye last week, but they have won three of their last four prior. Seattle is 3-3 on the season, 3-2-1 against the spread and 4-2 with the under. They have covered the spread in three of their last four.

The Seahawks are strong defensively, allowing just 19.5 points and 344 yards per game. They are allowing just 223 passing yards per game. Offensively, Seattle is scoring 23.8 points per game while averaging 345.8 yards per contest. Russell Wilson has thrown for 1,308 yards and 13 touchdowns with four interceptions. He has been sacked 19 times. Chris Carson is the leading rusher with 352 yards on 78 carries.

Detroit

The Lions have covered the spread in six straight conference games but have failed to cover in five straight Week-8 games.

Seattle

The Seahawks are 2-6 ATS in their last eight following a win, but 5-1 ATS in their last six games in October.

Prediction:

The Lions have looked good in recent outings, but the Seahawks are healing up on defense and will be up for the challenge of taking on this Detroit offense. I don’t expect the Lions to rush for over 200 yards like they did last week, which won’t allow for such easy passing lanes. The Seahawks can exploit the Detroit run defense, which will open up some options for Russell Wilson. Seattle has won a lot of big road games and I just can’t trust the Lions quite yet.
