Carolina Panthers Fantasy Spin

Cam Newton (foot) has yet to resume practicing. The Panthers have already announced Kyle Allen as their Week 8 starter, but they seemed to be holding out hope that Newton might be able to get some reps in. That did not happen on Wednesday or Thursday. It bodes poorly for Newton's odds of returning in Week 9, though that still can't be ruled out.

San Francisco 49ers Fantasy Spin

Marquise Goodwin (personal) is questionable for the 49ers' Week 8 matchup against the Panthers. Goodwin is off the fantasy radar if active, as Dante Pettis (92%) and Kendrick Bourne (89%) pulled away from the likes of Richie James (50%), Goodwin (11%) and Jordan Matthews (5%) with Deebo Samuel (knee) sidelined in Week 7. Bourne is probably the odd man out once Samuel returns, while coach Kyle Shanahan said recently-acquired WR Emmanuel Sanders is going to play "a lot."

Prediction

Carolina is one of my favorite plays on Sunday. Why not take five points with a Panthers team that is unbeaten since Newton went out with an injury? Christian McCaffrey is a stud, Allen has kept the offense afloat without Newton and the Carolina secondary is outstanding. The Panthers are also 14-3 against the spread in their last 17 games versus the 49ers and are 9-1 against the number in their last 10 games in San Francisco. I love the value with the Panthers here.
