Chargers on win streak

The Chargers have picked up back-to-back wins at home heading into this week’s road game. Los Angeles is now 3-2 on the season, 2-3 against the spread and 4-1 with the over. Last week mark the Chargers first under of the year, a 26-10 win over Oakland.

Los Angeles is putting up 27.4 points and 414.6 yards per game thus far in 2018. Philip Rivers continues to impress, throwing for 1,495 yards and 13 touchdowns with just two interceptions in five games. Melvin Gordon is also having another strong year, rushing for 334 yards and three touchdowns while catching 28 passes for 261 yards and three more scores. Defensively, the Chargers are still without pass rusher Joey Bosa. The unit has allowed 26 points and 379.8 yards per game, but their run defense is limiting opponents to just 95.6 yards per contest. Derwin James is leading the defense with 31 tackles, three sacks and six pass deflections.

Browns earn another win

The Browns got to the .500 mark on the season with a 12-9 OT win over the Baltimore Ravens last week. Cleveland is now 2-2-1 and has played in three overtime games. They are 4-1 against the spread and 3-2 with the over.

Cleveland is averaging 22.8 points and 404.6 yards per game on offense thus far in 2018. Baker Mayfield has provided some momentum in his rookie year, throwing for 838 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. Carlos Hyde leads a steady ground attack with 348 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Cleveland is giving up 22.6 points and 413 yards per game. Their pass defense is allowing nearly 300 yards per game. Myles Garrett is among the tops in the NFL in sacks with five this season while rookie Denzel Ward has three interceptions.

NFL Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Chargers have hit the under in 11 of their last 14 conference games and in their last four games in October.

Cleveland

The Browns have hit the under in 17 of their last 22 at home, but have hit the over in five of their last seven after a win.

Prediction:

I expect the Chargers to be able to move the ball, especially through the air, against this Cleveland defense. Rivers is playing to well to be shutdown in this game. I don’t see the travel being an issue. Cleveland has been very consistent at playing to the level of its competition. So, if the Chargers score, the Browns probably will too. All of Cleveland’s games have been decided by 4 points or less, so I like the over to hit in an offensive explosion.

NFL Prediction: Chargers/Browns Over 44.5
