Jets vs. Steelers Prediction

NFL Week 5 Predictions New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers 10/9/16

Will the Pittsburgh Steelers be able to build off last week’s win when they host the New York Jets today at 1PM ET?

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Steelers are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Jets. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 48 points. The Steelers have won three of their last four meetings with the Jets, covering the spread in the three victories as well.

Bet on Jets vs. Steelers

Pittsburgh is coming off a 43-14 win over the Chiefs to improve to 3-1 on the season and 3-1 against the spread. Pittsburgh is now averaging 27 points and 391.3 yards per game on offense. The return of Le’Veon Bell seemed to help them last week, as they put up 436 yards on the Chiefs. Ben Roethlisberger has thrown for 1,116 yards and 11 touchdowns with four interceptions. Antonio Brown has added 28 receptions for 369 yards and four scores. Defensively, Pittsburgh is giving up just 20 points per game, but they are allowing 399 yards per game, including 320.8 passing yards per contest. The defense continues to be without Ryan Shazier at linebacker, as he will miss today’s game with a knee injury.

The Jets are coming off a 27-17 loss to the Seahawks at home last week to fall to 1-3 on the season and 1-3 against the spread. New York is averaging just 19.8 points and 365.5 yards per game on offense. Ryan Fitzpatrick is struggling right now. He has 1,012 yards passing with four touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He will be without Eric Decker, who is out for today’s game with a shoulder injury while Quincy Enunwa is questionable with a knee injury. The defense has been struggling lately as well, especially against the pass. New York is giving up 26.3 points and 304.8 passing yards per game right now. Not helping matters is that Darrelle Revis is doubtful to play today due to a hamstring injury.

When Pittsburgh is clicking on offense, there may not be a better unit in football. Having Bell back certainly adds another dimension to the group, as KC found out last week. The Jets are usually a good defensive team, but that hasn’t been the case this season and I don’t like their chances at slowing down the Steelers in Pittsburgh. New York won’t be able to match fire power either with the injuries at the receiver position. Look for Pittsburgh to win big again this week.
