Cowboys vs. 49ers Prediction
Can the Dallas Cowboys keep their winning ways going when they hit the road to face the San Francisco 49ers today at 4:25PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Cowboys are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -2 points against the 49ers. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 44 points. The road team has won four of the last five in this series, but the 49ers are 4-2-2 against the spread in the last eight meetings.
The Cowboys are coming off a 31-17 win over the Bears last Sunday night to improve to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 against the spread. The Cowboys have won two straight, but they found out Dez Bryant has a hairline fracture in his leg that will likely sideline him for a game or two. Already without Tony Romo, the Cowboys have still managed to average 25.7 points and 389.7 yards per game on offense this season. Dak Prescott has thrown for 767 yards and a touchdown in three games while Ezekiel Elliott has been the workhorse with 274 rushing yards on 71 carries. Defensively, Dallas may need to step up this week. The Cowboys are giving up 20 points and 387 yards per game, including nearly 300 passing yards per contest.
The 49ers are coming off a 37-18 loss at Seattle last week for their second straight loss. They are now 1-2 against the spread as well. The offense is really struggling for the 49ers, putting up just 294 yards per game right now. Blaine Gabbert has thrown for only 532 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions through three games. Carlos Hyde has run for four touchdowns and 225 yards to lead the offense, but still is averaging just 3.9 yards per carry. Defensively, San Francisco hasn’t been as bad as the numbers may show. They are giving up 27.7 points and 386.3 yards per game, but have been on the field a lot. As a unit, they have five sacks and eight turnovers.

The Cowboys have been able to find ways to win, but that was with Bryant in the lineup. His presence on the field creates plenty of defensive challenges. Without him on the field, San Francisco should be able to stack up the box and try to stop Elliott, who has been the focus of the Dallas offense. It’s unclear if Prescott can beat opponents with his arm, but Sunday will be the test. Still, I take my chances on San Francisco playing a strong game at home.
