NFL Week 5 Betting Odds Report

NFL Week 5 Betting Odds, 10/1/18 Point Spreads & Totals

The point spreads and totals are out for Week 5 of the NFL season. Here’s a look at the top 5 matchups for the week, plus the lines for the rest of the games this weekend.

453 Jacksonville Jaguars at 454 Kansas City Chiefs, 1:00 p.m. ET Sunday

At the time of this writing, the Chiefs have not faced the Broncos but if the first three weeks of the season were any indication, Kansas City’s offense will be high-flying again in the Mile High City. On Sunday, that offense will face its stiffest test of the season when Patrick Mahomes and Co. travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Chiefs are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Jaguars. The total, meanwhile, sits at 51.5 points. As of this writing, 59% of the public betting tickets are on the Chiefs to cover the point spread. As of this writing, the early money is on Kansas City at 56%.

471 Minnesota Vikings at 472 Philadelphia Eagles, 4:25 p.m. ET, Sunday

This will be a rematch of last season’s NFC Championship Game in Philadelphia. The Eagles blew the Vikings out in that game and both teams are coming off losses last week, with Minnesota falling to the Rams in L.A. last Thursday night and Philly was upset by the Titans in Nashville.

The Eagles opened as 3-point home favorites over the Vikings and that’s where the line currently sits. Fifty-seven percent of the betting tickets are currently on the Vikings while 69% of the money is also on Minnesota. The total, meanwhile, sits at 44.5 points.

461 Atlanta Falcons at 462 Pittsburgh Steelers, 1:00 p.m. ET, Sunday

We can go ahead and call this the “desperation bowl” between two potential contenders that have struggled to get out of the gates. On Sunday, the Falcons lost in the closing minutes to the Bengals, which was the third time in four weeks that Atlanta has lost either a late lead or was stopped at the goal line. The Steelers, meanwhile, fell to 1-2-1 on Sunday night when they were soundly beaten by the Ravens. For the second straight week, Pittsburgh was shutout in the second half.

The Steelers opened as 4-point home favorites and the spread has not moved. The Falcons are receiving most of the backing from bettors, as 96% of the betting tickets and 89% of the money is on Atlanta to cover the spread. That said, it’s early. (The total for this game has yet to be released but given the fact that Atlanta is surrendering points and yards on a weekly basis, bettors can expect that the over/under will be sitting in the 50s.)

301 Indianapolis Colts at 302 New England Patriots, 8:20 p.m. ET, Thursday

The Thursday night matchup will take place in Foxborough this week, as the Patriots host the Colts. While New England rebounded from its 1-2 start with a convincing victory over the previously unbeaten Dolphins, the Colts went for it on fourth down in overtime versus the Texans and wound up losing on a debatable decision by head coach Frank Reich.

Indianapolis opened as a 10.5-point road underdog for Thursday night but the line was bet down to 10 at most sportsbooks. The Colts are receiving 61% of the betting tickets but 59% of the money is currently on the Patriots.

473 Los Angeles Rams at 474 Seattle Seahawks, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Seahawks evened their record at 2-2 for the season following back-to-back wins over the Cowboys and Cardinals. That said, there’s trouble ahead. They lost all-world safety Earl Thomas to a fractured leg in the win over Arizona and Seattle’s defense was already a shell of its former self. With the offense already struggling, the good vibes in Seattle might be short-lived.

The Rams opened as 7.5-point road favorites to beat the Seahawks on Sunday, but the spread was bet down to 7. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 48 but was bet up to 50.

Here are the rest of Week 5’s betting odds:

Packers -1 at Lions (51)

Titans -3 at Bills (39)

Dolphins +5.5 at Bengals (50)

Ravens +1 at Browns (N/A)

Giants +6.5 at Panthers (44.5)

Broncos -1 at Jets (N/A)

Raiders +6 at Chargers (52)

Cardinals +4.5 at 49ers (41)

Cowboys +3 at Texans (45)

Redskins +6.5 at Saints (51.5)
