Jets fall at Cleveland
After an impressive road win to open the season, the Jets have suffered back-to-back losses to the Dolphins and Browns to fall to 1-2 on the year. New York is 1-2 against the spread and 2-1 with the under. The Jets have hit the under in eight of their last nine, including the preseason.
The Jets have been strong defensively thus far, allowing just 19.3 points and 331.7 yards per game. New York’s run defense is holding opponents to 102.3 yards per game. The unit also has eight sacks and seven forced turnovers. On offense, the Jets are averaging 25.7 points and 339.7 yards per game, but the scoring numbers are inflated by their 48 points against the Lions. Sam Darnold has thrown for 701 yards and three touchdowns, but also has five interceptions. Isaiah Crowell is leading the ground game with 171 yards and four touchdowns.
Jags have letdown
The Jaguars followed up their big 31-20 win over the Patriots by suffered a 9-6 loss to the Titans at home last week. Jacksonville is now 2-1 on the year, 2-1 against the spread and 2-1 with the under.
Jacksonville still has been led this season by its defense, allowing only 14.7 points and 304 yards per game. Their pass defense is among the best in the NFL, allowing just 188.7 yards per game. On offense, the Jags are putting up just 19 points and 345 yards per game. Leonard Fournette has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, putting a lot on Blake Bortles. He has thrown for 707 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions. Fournette has still been limited in practice and is questionable for Sunday’s game.
NFL Betting Trends
New York
The Jets have hit the under in five straight conference games and in five of their last seven games in September.
Jacksonville
The Jaguars have hit the under in five straight games following a loss and in 10 of their last 13 conference games.
Prediction:
I can see this game being similar to the Jags vs. Titans game last week. Both teams rely on defense to do the majority of the work and both teams have a quarterback that isn’t the most reliable. The Jags could continue to be without Fournette, which takes out a big element to the Jacksonville offense. The Jets will be able to play Jacksonville tough at the line of scrimmage and make this a real offensive grind.
NFL Prediction: Jets/Jaguars Under 38.5
