Los Angeles Chargers Fantasy Spin
Philip Rivers completed 31-of-46 passes for 318 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in the Chargers' 27-20, Week 3 loss against the Texans. Rivers consistently found Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler underneath throughout the game. Allen in particular was virtually impossible to cover, including when he and Rivers hooked up for a clutch 4th-and-13 conversion on their final drive. Unfortunately, Travis Benjamin dropped a beautiful deep ball that would’ve been a touchdown on the very next play. Rivers’ non-existent rushing floor doesn’t help his weekly fantasy floor, but he’s still as accurate and in control as ever. The good news for the entire Chargers’ passing game is a brilliant get-right spot in Week 4 against the Dolphins.
Miami Dolphins Fantasy Spin
Josh Rosen completed 18-of-39 passes for 200 yards in the Dolphins' 31-6, Week 3 loss to the Cowboys, adding three rushes for 13 yards. Most of Rosen's notable plays failed to show up in the box score. He got Allen Hurns concussed with a hospital ball and underwent a concussion evaluation of his own. He should have had a 15-yard touchdown in the second quarter, but Preston Williams could not secure the ball in the end zone. Rosen was giving his wideouts chances to make plays down the field but was either delivering bad balls, throwing into too tight of coverage or watching his pass catchers make mistakes. Sometimes all three occurred on the same play. It is still going to be the longest of seasons in Miami. The Dolphins' schedule does not ease up with next week's hosting of the Chargers.
NFL Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The over is 18-5 in the Chargers’ last 23 games played in Week 4.
Miami
The under is 7-3 in the Dolphins’ last 10 games played in September and is 6-1 in their last seven games coming off a loss.
Prediction
The Chargers have scored a combined 30 points the past two games but Rivers and Co. should get healthy real quick on Sunday against a Miami defense that has surrendered 59 (Baltimore), 43 (New England) and 31 (Dallas) points the first three weeks of the season. The Dolphins have traded away any of the talent they had on the roster entering the season and are in complete tank mode. Despite the Bolts’ offensive struggles and the Dolphins’ issues scoring, I’m not going to take the under in the Chargers could score 45 points and cover the over on their own.
