According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Chiefs are favored at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Jets. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 42 points. The home team has won five straight in this series and the two have hit the under in three of their last five meetings.

The Jets are coming off a 37-31 win over the Bills last week to move to 1-1 on the season. New York has surprisingly hit the over in both games thanks to an offense that is averaging 419 yards per game and a defense that is giving up 408 yards per contest. Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown for 563 yards and three touchdowns to lead the offense while Matt Forte has rushed for 196 yards and three scores. The issue on defense seems to be the secondary, as the Jets are allowing 336.5 passing yards per contest.

The Chiefs are coming off a 19-12 loss to the Texans last week. KC has yet to cover the spread in a game and they have split the over/under total. The Chiefs are averaging 375.5 yards per game on offense while giving up 381.5 yards per game on defense. Alex Smith has been leading the charge for KC with 549 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Chiefs are hoping to get a boost this week as Jamaal Charles is expected to make his season debut after recovering from an ACL tear last season. He could help improve the run game that couldn’t get established in last week’s loss.

You would typically expect the Chiefs and Jets to play a defensive battle, but both teams aren’t showing a great deal of impressive defense right now. The Jets have been moving the ball very well, especially Fitzpatrick. KC has had some trouble getting stops against the pass, but a returning Charles should help them keep pace with a Jets defense that has given up their fair share of big plays.
