Titans vs. Jaguars Total Prediction
AFC South rivals clash in Jacksonville on Thursday night when the Jaguars host the Titans at 8:20 p.m. ET. Even with the betting total sitting below 40, is the under still a safe play for bettors?
Game Snapshot
301 Tennessee Titans (-1.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars (+1.5); O/U 39.5
8:20 p.m. ET, Thursday, September 19, 2019
TIAA Bank Field, Jacksonville, Florida
According to our NFL Public Betting Chart page, the Titans are drawing 66% of the betting tickets ahead of Thursday night’s game. The line for this matchup opened at Jaguars +2.5 but has been bet down to 1.5 despite the majority of betting tickets currently being on the Titans.
Tennessee Titans Fantasy Spin
Marcus Mariota (quad) is practicing in full for Week 3 against the Jaguars. Mariota's "injury" was never considered serious. Headed on the road for a short-week matchup with a decent defense, Mariota is a barely-there QB2 for Week 3.
Jacksonville Jaguars Fantasy Spin
Jaguars DC Todd Wash said he expects Jalen Ramsey to play Thursday against the Titans. In what was one of the wildest press conferences in league history, Ramsey cussed approximately 37 times and went on about being "a part of the Jaguars" and focusing on Thursday night before Wash confirmed he's expecting the first-round corner to play. Reports are that Jacksonville has already received offers from both an undisclosed NFC and AFC team that includes a 2020 first-round selection and/or a fifth and player to be named, so time will tell if Ramsey's status in Florida holds. The Chiefs have been rumored as the strongest suitor.
Tennessee
The over is 5-1 in the Titans’ last six games versus AFC opponents and is 6-2 in their last eight games dating back to last season.
Jacksonville
The under is 5-1 in the Jaguars’ last six home games and has cashed in four of their last five games overall.
Thursday Night NFL Prediction:
Making his first NFL start, Gardner Minshew completed 23-of-33 passes for 213 yards and one touchdown in the Jags’ 13-12 loss to the Texans in Week 2. He was sacked four times and was brutal in the first half before settling down and moving the offense marginally in the final two quarters. Meanwhile, Leonard Fournette rushed 15 times for 47 yards and caught four-of-six targets for 40 yards in the loss. Houston game-planned to stop Fournette and Tennessee will surely take a similar approach on Thursday night. With the amount of pressure the Titans will also put on Minshew, I don’t see how the Jags score enough to contribute to hitting the over for bettors. The under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings between these two teams in Jacksonville and I like it to hit again in two nights.
NFL WEEK 3 PREDICTION: Titans/Jaguars UNDER 39.5
