Chiefs vs. Patriots Pick
Will Thursday night's NFL season-opener between the Chiefs and Patriots be low-scoring?
What: Chiefs (0-0) vs. Patriots (0-0)
When: 8:30PM ET, Thursday, September 7
Where: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Patriots are now 9-point home favorites versus the Chiefs. As for the total, the number currently sits at 48.5 points.
New England opened favored by a touchdown but the line was bet up two full points in favor of the Patriots. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 50 but has been bet down to 48.5.
Public Betting Information
Of the tickets currently placed on Thursday night's game, 66% are on the Patriots minus the nine points.
OUR PREDICTION: Many are expecting this to be a high-scoring affair because the Patriots re-loaded offensively this offseason, adding deep threat Brandin Cooks as well as a bevy of running backs. That said, the Chiefs continue to be methodical on offense with Alex Smith under center and both of these defenses should finish in the top-15 this season. The under is also 9-4 in the Chiefs' last 13 games dating back to last season and is 4-1 in the Patriots' last five games in Week 1. I think the total has been set too high in this matchup.
NFL PRESEASON PREDICTION: CHIEFS/PATRIOTS UNDER 48.5
