Jets Season Win Total Prediction
It figures to be a long season in New York for Gang Green. Just how many games will the New York Jets lose in 2017?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Jets' over/under for wins this upcoming season has been set at 4.5. They also have the worst odds of any team to win the Super Bowl at 325/1. Finally, they're 165/1 long shots to win the AFC Conference Championship and own the worst odds (by a wide margin) to win the AFC East at 75/1.
The Jets went through an offseason purge, releasing receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, as well as long-time linebacker David Harris. Marshall signed with the Giants, Decker moved on to Tennessee, and Harris was nabbed by AFC East rival New England. The only significant addition the Jets made in free agency were quarterback Josh McCown, cornerback Morris Claibore, and offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum.
With the sixth overall pick in April's NFL draft, the Jets selected versatile safety Jamal Adams from LSU. They double-downed on the position in the second round by taking Florida defensive back Marcus Maye. In the third and fourth, the Jets went with back-to-back receivers in Alabama's ArDarius Stewart and California's Chad Hansen. The team then nabbed Clemson tight end Jordan Leggett in the fifth.

Our Prediction: There's no reason to get cute here: The under is the only play. McCown has put together a decent career but the only reason he found a starting job is because the Jets currently have Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg on their quarterback depth chart. Matt Forte is 32 and wearing down, plus the team lost their best outside playmaker for the season when Quincy Enunwa fell victim to a bulging disk in his neck. The bottom line is that this team doesn't have the talent to compete this season and also faces a difficult schedule. I'm taking the under.
