Titans vs. Jets Preseason Prediction
Will the Titans be able to cover the spread Saturday night on the road when they play the Jets?
Oddsmakers at sports book Bovada.lv have set the Titans as a 2.5-point favorite, while the over-under is 37. The spread has remained steady from where it opened and the over-under has dropped a half-point from 37.5.
TENNESSEE TITANS: Quarterback Marcus Mariota took his game to another level in his second year as a pro in 2016, throwing for 26 touchdowns against nine interceptions and notching a 95.6 QB rating. He is expected to play a couple of series versus the Jets, looking to gain chemistry with a couple new weapons such as wide receiver Eric Decker. The Titans could be a team that will surprise after making many solid acquisitions through free agency and the NFL draft in recent years. Expect first round draft pick, wideout Corey Davis, and second-year running back Derrick Henry to see a lot of opportunities in the early going.

NEW YORK JETS: This still feels like a dysfunctional franchise, onetrending in the wrong direction. There is still no decision on the quarterback of the future, but it probably is not Bryce Petty and the jury is still out on Christian Hackenburg. Right now, the Jets are putting their temporary trust in Josh McCown at least until one of the younger QBs emerge. Matt Forte is a year older, while the loss of Brandon Marshall in free agency and Quincy Enunwa to an injury leaves the wide receiver group way short on talent. There is some talent on the defensive side of the football, but it isn’t going to be enough to overcome the offensive inefficiency.
OUR PREDICTION: The Titans are the better team here and since most of the starters are in line to play some, a quick lead could set the tone for the game. Tennessee took last year’s preseason seriously, going 3-1 with all three victories by at least 11 points.
