The Green Bay Packers missed the playoffs for the first time in eight years but retooled this offseason. After winning just seven games in 2017, will a healthy Aaron Rodgers lead the Pack to double-digit wins in 2018?

According to oddsmakers, the Packers' over/under for wins has been set at 10 games, with the over carrying odds of 21/20 and the juice on the under currently sitting at 20/27. Green Bay is also 12/1 to win the Super Bowl, is 13/2 to win the NFC title in 2018, and is 8/5 to win the NFC North Division championship.

Offseason Additions

Mike McCarthy heads into his 13th season as head coach of the Packers but will have a new defensive coordinator in Mike Pettine, who was Cleveland's former head coach.

From a personnel standpoint, the Packers acquired cornerback Tramon Williams, tight end Jimmy Graham, and quarterback DeShone Kizer, as well as defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. The Wilkerson and Williams additions were in efforts to vastly upgrade Green Bay's defense.

That theme also carried into April's draft, as the Packers selected back-to-back cornerbacks in the first (Jaire Alexander of Louisville) and second (Iowa's Josh Jackson) rounds. The team went back to defense in the third round with linebacker Oren Burks of Vanderbilt, then took Missouri wide receiver J'Mon Moore in the fourth.

Offseason Departures

Rodgers was none too happy with the release of receiver Jordy Nelson, who inked a free-agent deal with the Raiders this offseason. Safety Morgan Burnett also signed with the Steelers, while receiver Jeff Janis left via free agency to join the Browns.

Even though injuries can quickly derail a season (look at the Packers a year ago when they finished 7-9 after Rodgers was hurt), this is one of the better 'over' plays on the board. Rodgers' return gives Green Bay an obvious bump but the biggest reason why I see the Pack winning 10-plus games is because the schedule offers them plenty of advantages.

In the first six weeks, the Packers draw just one projected to-ten team, which is the Vikings, but the game will be played at Lambeau Field. Then the team has a bye before facing the Rams, another top-tier team, but one Green Bay will be prepared to face. The Packers then draw the Patriots the following week, which is always a tough assignment, but Green Bay has some extra prep time for New England too because it's a Sunday night matchup. From Week 9 onward, the Packers' slate is the second-softest, with matchups against four bottom-ten foes, including three opponents in the bottom five.

From an offseason standpoint, it's hard not to like what the Packers did in upgrading their defense. Since winning the SUper Bowl at the end of the 2010 season, the Packers have finished 20th, 20th, 9th, 16th, 31st, 8th and 25th in defensive efficiency. Rodgers can obviously overcome a lot, but it's hard to win titles when your defense is erratic, which Green Bay's unit has been over the past seven-plus seasons.

With the additions of Wilkerson and Williams, plus a switch from Dom Capers to Pettine at coordinator (not to mention an easier schedule), the Packers should see a bump in defensive efficiency this season. Even if the defense is slightly improved, with Rodgers back facing a light schedule, the Packers' floor should be 10 wins.
