Arizona Cardinals Season Win Prediction

NFL Season Win Total Predictions 7/18/18 Will Cardinals Win 6 Games?

The Arizona Cardinals have a new quarterback, a new head coach, and lower expectations for the 2018 NFL season. Will they surpass those expectations or fall short of winning even six games under new coach Steve Wilks?

Arizona Cardinals Over/Under Season Odds

The Cardinals have one of the lowest implied win totals for the 2018 season at 5.5. The over has odds of 20/31 while the under carries odds of 5/4, perhaps indicating that either public perception is the Cardinals will win more than five games or oddsmakers are preparing for that possibility and thus, increasing the juice on the over.

Newcomers

The Cardinals signed quarterbacks Sam Bradford, formerly of the Vikings, and Mike Glennon, formerly of the Bears, to one and two-year deals, respectively this offseason. Bradford battled injuries last season in Minnesota and now takes over a team in rebuild mode that also has issues along the offensive line. At least Bradford can lean on a healthy David Johnson, as well as veteran Larry Fitzgerald, who is coming back for another season.

The team also added former Bengals offensive tackle Andre Smith, who signed a two-year, $8 million contract back in March. Smith's versatility is a plus but he's not going to solve Arizona's offensive line woes as he struggled in pass protection last season. Also along the offensive line, the Cardinals signed Justin Pugh to a five-year, $45 million contract. Pugh is a nice addition who fills a gigantic hole on the Cardinals' offensive line. Meanwhile, Mike Iupati agreed to a $3 million pay cut but he enters a make-or-break year in Arizona.

Our Prediction

This team is not without talent but much of that talent missed time a year ago with injuries, most notably David Johnson, pass-rusher Marcus Golden, left tackle D.J. Humphries and projected starting quarterback Sam Bradford (with the Vikings). Given Bradford's extensive injury history, it would not be surprising to see first-rounder Josh Rosen receive starts throughout the season.

The Cardinals are in a mini-rebuild heading into the 2018 season. Eventually, they want to turn the offense over to Rosen but they need to ensure that their offensive line is fixed before thrusting a rookie signal-caller into the fold. Plus, outside of Johnson (who is holding out) and Fitzgerald (who might be playing his final season), this team has plenty of uncertainties at the skill positions.

The bottom line is that there's too much uncertainty on offense to take the over when it comes to the Cardinals in 2018. Arizona could very well fall to the bottom of the NFC West this season.
