2021 Super Bowl Odds: Chiefs Favored

2020 chiefs reid01

The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions and to no one’s surprise, Patrick Mahomes and Co. have opened as favorites to repeat. That said, what are the odds of this year’s runner-up the 49ers and what about the Patriots?

The Favorite

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, the Chiefs are 6/1 to repeat as Super Bowl champions. This isn’t surprising given that Mahomes and Andy Reid will return to an offense that is destined to score points in bunches again next season. That, coupled with the Patriots’ potential demise, leaves the Chiefs as the new king of the AFC Mountain (if not the NFL) for the foreseeable future.

The Runner-Up

The 49ers fell short last Sunday night in Miami Gardens despite having a 95.3% chance to beat the Chiefs with roughly 7:30 minutes remaining in the game. That said, oddsmamkers feel as though San Francisco is good enough to make another deep run in 2021. The Niners have the next-best odds to win the 2021 Super Bowl at 7/1, which gives them comparable odds to Kansas City. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will return, as will Kyle Shanahan and most of the nasty pass rush that aided the 49ers in winning the NFC West and representing the conference in Super Bowl 54.

The Rest of the Top 5

Following the Chiefs at 6/1 and the 49ers at 7/1, the Ravens and Patriots are 8/1 to win the Super Bowl, followed by the Saints at 15/1. Those teams round out the top 5 in terms of the odds. Baltimore earned the top seed in the AFC this past year before losing to a red-hot Titans team in the Divisional round, while New England also lost at home to that same Tennessee team the weekend prior. The big news surrounding the Patriots is whether or not they’ll bring back quarterback Tom Brady, who is a free agent for the first time in his career. Similar questions face New Orleans, which needs to decided whether or not to bring back an aging future Hall of Famer in Drew Brees.

Mid-Range Longshots

The Cowboys, Steelers and Seahawks are all 20/1 to win the 2021 Super Bowl, followed by the Packers, Eagles and Chargers are 25/1, respectively. The Browns, meanwhile, are 30/1 to win it all next season, as are the Rams and Vikings, respectively. Finally, the Bills, Texans, Colts and Titans are all 35/1, respectively, followed by the Falcons and Bears at 40/1, respectively.

Long-Shots

Wrapping up the odds, the Broncos are 50/1 to win the Super Bowl, followed by the Raiders at 60/1. The Panthers, Giants and Bucs are all 65/1, respectively, followed by the Lions at 70/1 and the Jets at 75/1. The Cardinals, Bengals and Jaguars are all 100/1, respectively, followed by the Dolphins at 125/1. The team with the longest odds are the Redskins at 150/1.
