If the 49ers run the ball at will tonight versus the Chiefs like they did against the Packers in the NFC Championship Game, then Kittle and San Francisco’s passing game will once again be grounded. Kittle was only targeted once versus Green Bay and he caught that pass for 19 yards as the 49ers rode Raheem Mostert and his 220 rushing yards to the Super Bowl.
That said, I see the script being flipped tonight in Miami Gardens. I see a back-and-forth shootout between two teams that can score in a blink. Yes, the 49ers can be run-heavy under Kyle Shanahan but that doesn’t mean there won’t be enough targets to feature Kittle, who has been unstoppable at times this season for San Francisco.
Kittle finished with 6.07 receptions, 75.21 yards and 0.36 touchdowns per game during the regular season. He was targeted, on average, 7.64 times during the regular season and finished with a 12.39 figure when it came to his yards per reception. Tonight, he’ll face the No. 27 defense in the Kansas City Chiefs when it comes to covering tight ends. It’s not that the Chiefs won’t focus on Kittle or allow him to run free in their secondary, but I’m a big believe in Shanahan and thus, I see him getting his tight end free in a variety of ways.
I’m spraying the board when it comes to Kittle. I see a big game tonight. Again, the only thing I free is a huge game out of Mostert or, of course, an injury that knocks Kittle out of the game early. While I acknowledge those two outcomes are possible, Kittle is my favorite player to cash overs tonight when it comes to prop bets.
