During the regular season, Breida averaged 10.25 rushing attempts for 51.92 yards per game and 0.08 touchdowns per contest. He wasn’t much of a factor in the passing game for Kyle Shanahan, catching just 1.58 passes for 10.00 yards per game over 13 games played.

As previously mentioned, Breida didn’t factor into the 49ers’ playoff games either. He rushed just once for two yards in the team’s win over the Packers and that was even after Tevin Coleman was lost early in the game to a shoulder injury. Granted, Shanahan was merely riding the hot hand in Raheem Mostert, but Breida’s production was nevertheless light. He had more of a role against the Vikings in the Divisional round, rushing eight times for 17 yards.

While Breida should receive more than one carry on Super Bowl Sunday, I don’t see how he gets to five, which is the number we’d need to cash the over on his rushing attempts. Coleman’s shoulder is a wild card but Breida is likely to be the third option in the running game if Coleman does play. And in a matchup that could turn into a shootout, I don’t think there’s enough carries to go around for Breida to cash the over on his rush attempts.
