Arizona to keep it on the ground?
The Arizona Cardinals were able to air it out vs. the Green Bay Packers a few weeks ago. Will they turn the tables and feed David Johnson in today’s playoff game?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Arizona is favored in this playoff game, as the Cardinals are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Packers. The over/under total for the game has been set at 49.5 points. These two meet tonight at 8:15PM ET on NBC.
In a year with a lot of change at the running back position, the Cardinals (13-3, 9-7 ATS) seem to have settled on Johnson, a 6-1 rookie out of Northern Iowa. Johnson has run for 581 yards and eight touchdowns on the year, but didn’t get featured carries until late in the season. He has had three games with over 90 yards, including a 187-yard and 3-touchdown performance against the Eagles on Dec. 20.
For tonight’s game with the Packers (11-6, 10-7 ATS), Johnson has been given an over/under of 78.5 rushing yards and 36.5 receiving yards. Johnson has 36 catches for 457 yards on the season, including three catches for 88 yards against the Pack on Dec. 27. He was held to just 9 carries for 39 yards rushing in that same game. However, Green Bay was dominated early in that contest, turning the ball over four times to Arizona. The Packers should have a determined defensive approach, which may mean Arizona will have to grind things out on the ground. In games that Johnson has had 19 carries or more, he has gotten to 90 yards. That has only happened three times. If Arizona looks to pass, Johnson is likely to be part of the plan. He has had at least 37 receiving yards in five games this season.
