With their foot off the gas, can the Dallas Cowboys score enough to hit the over against the Philadelphia Eagles today at 1PM ET?

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Eagles are heavily favored in this contest, as they are getting odds of -6 points against the Cowboys. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 42.5 points. Dallas won the first meeting this season on Oct. 30, 29-23. The Cowboys have won three of the last four while the two have hit the over in three of their last four meetings.

The Cowboys are coming off a 42-21 win at home over the Detroit Lions on Monday night to move to 13-2 on the year. Dallas hit the over in the win to move to 9-6 with the under in 2016. The Cowboys average 27.2 points per game on offense this year while giving up just 18.6 points per contest on defense. The issue for Dallas could be their choice to rest top players. Dallas has nothing to play for, as it has locked up home-field for the playoffs. The team limited rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott to just 12 carries last week and he is likely to see few carries this week, if any. Dallas appears set to rest Dak Prescott, as Mark Sanchez is expected to get most of the snaps at QB while Tony Romo possibly sees some action as well.

The Eagles are coming off a 24-19 win over the Giants last week at home to move to 6-9 on the year. The win snapped a five-game losing streak, while the Eagles have hit the over in four straight to get to 9-6 with the over this year. Philly is a team averaging 22.7 points per game on offense while giving up 21.2 points per game on defense. Carson Wentz has thrown for 3,537 yards and 14 touchdowns in his rookie year, but also has 14 interceptions. His leading receiver, Jordan Matthews, is listed as questionable for this game with an ankle injury while the backfield has numerous injuries, leaving Darren Sproles as the lone healthy back.

The Eagles may be trying in this game, but they still face a tough Dallas defense that will have most of its starters playing. Wentz has been shaky in the second half of the season and not been able to sustain many drives. With Prescott and Elliott likely on the bench, I don’t expect much from the Dallas offense.
