Ohio St. favored to repeat as champs?
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Urban Meyer thought Ohio State was a year away from being a national title contender, but the Buckeyes won it all on Monday night. Are they the clear favorite to repeat next season?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Ohio State is the opening favorites to win the 2016 College Football Playoff, as the Buckeyes have 6/1 odds to repeat. The other short odds are TCU (15/2), Alabama (10/1), Auburn (14/1) and Oregon (14/1).
Ohio State put on a dominant performance over the last month of the season, beating Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon to claim the first-ever College Football Playoff championship. What makes things even scarier is the Buckeyes will return most of their roster. Their quarterback situation will play out soon, depending on who enters the draft or transfers, but the team will have stud running back Ezekiel Elliott back along with a solid offensive line.
TCU was the team that just missed making the playoffs, but then dominated Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl, 42-3. The Horned Frogs could have one of the Heisman frontrunners in Trevone Boykin back under center to lead one of the country’s top offenses.

Alabama and Oregon will also be in the mix as the likely pre-season favorites to win the SEC and Pac-12, respectively, but both will be replacing quarterbacks, which could cause some bumps in the road.
