Martinez homers in win

Mookie Betts was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run Friday night in the 5-4 home win over the Yankees in Game 1 of the ALDS. Andrew Benintendi finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs. Steve Pearce was 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI. J.D. Martinez led the offense by going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Xander Bogaerts went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Chris Sale earned the win as he allowed two earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over 5 1/3 innings. Craig Kimbrel allowed one earned run on one hit with three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings to post the save.

Judge had three-hit night

Aaron Judge ended last night's game 3-for-5 with a solo home run that brought New York within a run in the ninth inning. Aaron Hicks was 1-for-1 with a walk before exiting the game. Luke Voit went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Didi Gregorius finished 1-for-4 with an RBI. J.A. Happ suffered the loss as he was shelled for five earned run on four hits over two innings, striking out two and walking one.

Masahiro Tanaka (12-6, 3.75 ERA) will start tonight for the Yankees, while the Red Sox counter with David Price (16-7, 3.58).

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Yankees are 39-15 in their last 54 Saturday games. New York is 2-6 in its last eight meetings in Boston.

The over is 9-1-1 in the last 11 Red Sox games overall. The under is 7-2-1 in the last 10 Boston games on Saturdays.

The pitching matchup here is pretty even, but both pitchers have posted ugly outings this season against their rivals. Both pitchers enter in pretty good form right now and I'm giving the edge to Tanaka as he has been a much better pitcher on the road. New York has lefty mashers in its lineup and I see this series going five games. Take the Yankees tonight.
