Severino sharp in win
New York cruised to an 8-3 home win Sunday afternoon over Toronto to improve to 102-55 overall and 57-24 at home. Luis Severino was impressive again in his second start back from injury as he threw five shutout innings with three hits allowed, nine strikeouts and no walks to record the win. Brett Gardner helped lead the Yankees offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Aaron Judge was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored. D.J. LeMahieu ended the game 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. New York has not yet announced its starting pitcher for tonight's contest.
Six-run fourth propels Rays
Tampa Bay overcame a 4-0 deficit with a six-run fourth inning at home Monday night to conclude its series at Boston with a 7-4 victory. Ji-Man Choi helped lead the Rays offense as he went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Willy Adames finished 1-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs. Brandon Lowe ended the contest 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Austin Pruitt picked up the win in relief despite giving up two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout and two walks over one inning. Colin Poche earned the save as he struck out both batters he faced. Yonny Chirinos will start tonight for Tampa Bay as he comes in with a 9-5 record, 3.67 ERA and 112 strikeouts over 127 2/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are 37-17 in their last 54 Tuesday games. New York is 53-18 in its last 71 games versus the AL East.
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 3-7 in the last 10 Chirinos starts. Tampa Bay is 19-7 in its last 26 home games.
Prediction:
Both teams have a lot to play for here as the Yankees are going after homefield advantage, while the Rays are fighting tooth-and-nail for an AL Wild Card spot. With Tampa Bay's bullpen having so many capable arms and Chirinos looking good after one appearance in his return from injury, I like the hosts' chance. The Rays have done well at Tropicana Field lately even with a sparse home crowd. I'm going with the hosts here.
