deGrom stellar once again
Jacob deGrom gave up one earned run on two hits with six strikeouts and a walk over six innings in the Mets' 4-2 win Monday at Los Angeles. With the no-decision, deGrom stays at 8-8 on the season despite a 1.68 ERA and a 11.1 K's per nine innings rate. Brandon Nimmo hit a pinch-hit 3-run homer to lift New York to the win. Amed Rosario finished 3-for-5 with a stolen base, while Jay Bruce was 1-for-3 with a double plus a walk and two runs. deGrom helped his own cause by going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Robert Gsellman earned his 10th save as he allowed one earned run on two hits in an inning of work.
Turner homers off deGrom
Justin Turner accounted for the first Dodgers run yesterday as he hit a first-inning solo homer. He also walked in four plate appearances. Manny Machado finished 2-for-4 with a double. Alex Verdugo went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Cody Bellinger was also 2-for-4. Kenta Maeda took the loss in relief as he allowed three earned runs on two hits over 1 1/3 innings.
Jason Vargas (5-8, 6.56 ERA) will get the start today for the Mets, while LA turns to Rich Hill (6-5, 3.59).
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 10-27 in their last 37 Tuesday games. New York is 3-8 in Vargas' last 11 road starts.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 8-2 in their last 10 games overall. Los Angeles is 14-3 in the last 17 meetings.
Prediction:
New York stole one yesterday after deGrom left the game, but don't look for the same result today. Vargas has pitched better over the last month, but he's still Vargas. Hill seems to be getting into a groove and should have some run support to work with. Go with the Dodgers. I'm going with the runline bet.
