LeMahieu, Story help Rockies to win
Colorado second baseman D.J. LeMahieu hit a solo home run in five at-bats Saturday in a 4-2 victory at San Diego. Nolan Arenado went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Trevor Story finished 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Matt Holliday was 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Ian Desmond ended the contest 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jon Gray picked up the win as he allowed two earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and one walk over six innings. Wade Davis threw a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout for his 37th save.
Renfroe hits pair of homers
The only offense for the Padres last night came via Hunter Renfroe as he was 2-for-4 with two solo home runs. Austin Hedges went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Robbie Erlin suffered the loss as he gave up four earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and a walk over 5 1/3 innings.
Kyle Freeland (12-7, 2.90 ERA) will start today for the Rockies, while Jacob Nix (2-2, 4.05) goes for the Padres.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are 16-5 in Freeland's last 21 starts. The under is 38-14-3 in Freeland's last 55 starts on grass.
San Diego
The Padres are 9-23 in their last 32 home games. San Diego is 20-46 in its last 66 games overall.
Prediction:
San Diego hits lefties better than righties and are familiar with what Freeland has to offer. Nix has shown flashes as a rookie and will benefit from spacious Petco Park. Colorado is not as good away from home and I think this is a good spot to go with the underdog in a getaway game.
