Yankees’ Sabathia (knee) to return Friday in Baltimore
CC Sabathia (knee) will return to the Yankees' starting rotation Friday in Baltimore. That'll mean a minimum 10-day DL stint for the big left-hander, who's been out since August 13 with mild inflammation in his right knee. Sabathia holds a 7-4 record, 3.32 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 106/41 K/BB ratio in 119 1/3 innings (22 starts) this season for New York. He makes for a decent fantasy play against the last-place O's.
Orioles’ Cobb goes the distance to defeat Indians
Alex Cobb largely breezed through the AL Central-leading Indians on Saturday, allowing two runs in a complete-game, 4-2 win. Cobb gave up five hits and a walk while striking out three, needing exactly 100 pitches to complete his nine innings. Only a two-run sixth inning, in which the Indians strung together three consecutive singles, marred his afternoon. Cobb has somewhat quietly been pretty good in the season's second half and has lowered his ERA to 5.09 -- a testament to how bad he was in the first half -- in 23 starts overall. He'll look to keep rolling along Friday when the Orioles face the Yankees.
